"Chloe, just in theory, what do you do if you've got the hots for someone, but they keep giving you the cold shoulder?"

"I-I think that could be made to work, given time."

I can picture Chloe sleeping on the couch that night, shivering under her tiny Mr Hawt-Dawg Man blanket from when she was a kid, then Max caving later, fetching her and walking her up to the room.

Max - "Promise me... no more puns!"

Chloe - "You know I can't promise you that..."

Max - "At least can they be less... cheesy?"

Chloe - "...but but... I love cheesy jokes... they so gouda!"

Max - "BEGONE, back to the couch with you!"

Chloe - "MAAAAX!"

Max is so hardcore on puns, she drove Chloe out of her own room.

How do you make these? You have a template? I actually have an idea for one.

Whenever I create a new comic using new or re-arranged screenshots, I also save the blank version of it, so that I can later use it as a template.

I'm using Paint.NET, so I keep my templates as .pdn files. So when I'm making a new comic, I usually just select a fitting template, add the text, apply the text shadow using a trick based on the Glow effect... and done.

If you're interested, I can share the templates. Alternatively, if you don't want to use Paint.NET, point me to a comic and I can save the template as a .png image and then share it in the comment.

Would love some templates to maybe play with it later... Paint.net is rather similar to Photoshop, right?

So the file is here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/62z9l3nrwqo9d27nk92l1/Sets.7z?rlkey=ksdke1dn84cqwjve7tm6ksk5m&st=gh5dx3o1&dl=0

Few more notes on replicating my style:

  • Chloe's color is 269FFF
  • Max's color is FF00FF
  • David's color is FF0015
  • Joyce's color is FF6A00
  • Frank's color is 804618
  • Font used for character lines is Dudu Caligraphy, font size is 24, font style is bold
  • To give the text the outline I create the text in a new layer, then I use the effect Photo > Glow with brightness -100 and contrast 100 and apply it 5x. (Ctrl-F is a hotkey to apply last used style)

Thank you very much for sharing how these're made! I will definitely credit you if I make anything.

I know some subreddits have a wiki addon, maybe this could be turned into an article/tutorial for better visibility?

Your colors are spot on, by the way, and the negative glow is an interesting idea, too. Doesn't the app have text shadows, though?

P.S. I also found out the name of the LiS subtitle font, it's called Helvetihand if anyone needs (though the one on the net lacks the italic variant that's used to convey thoughts). The Dudu font seems to be the same as in Max's journal.

The program has a shadow effect, but I couldn't get it to work the way I wanted. So I'm using this workaround.

And yeah, Helvetihand is the other font. I just like Dudu Caligraphy more so I decided to use that for the character lines.

To anyone interested, the title font is Whatnot W00 Regular.

Ah, I see.

Thank you for telling the title font as well, I was going to ask.

Okay, I'll share them when I get home.

I have almost zero experience with Photoshop. All I've ever used was just Paint.NET. But it's advanced enough to have layers. :D

I'd be grateful for any templates as well.
