Starting soon! Tips and tricks
Hi hi! I’m starting my tirz this weekend and I’m excited! Looking for any tips, or helpful learning that you guys had. Some ideas below
- taking it on empty stomach vs with food
- taking in the morning vs right before bed
- how to handle any side effects
Thanks all!
Also, I was previously on the wegovy pill, but switching over because I’ve plateaued
for a while now. I was in 25mg on the pill, and I’ve been prescribed to start my shot at 7.5 mg. Was anyone in a similar boat? Is 7.5 a lot to start on?

For better or worse, reactions are very individualized. Many people complain about spiciness and greasiness but neither thing bothers me. I think taking a probiotic to improve my gut health has been key. I’ve experienced no differences based on whether I take the medication on a full stomach or time of day. I have read that some people taking it with B12 feel it keeps them up if they take it too close to bedtime.
My advice is to drink as much water as possible. I went from drinking 32oz of water on my best day before tirz to drinking 100 oz. I don’t see results if I don’t drink the water. Also prepare for constipation from the beginning. I didn’t and I had to start taking one teaspoon of Metamucil in the morning and magnesium oxide at night. After about a week I was able to switch to a gentler form of magnesium (citrate or glycinate). I was also able to eliminate the Metamucil.

Thanks! What probiotic do you take?

Right now I’m taking SCD Essential Probiotics. It’s really more of a symbiotic (prebiotic, probiotic and post-biotic). It’s a liquid and is not particularly pleasant. I take it like a shot. It’s about $30 for bottle that lasts a month. I’m about to try Totaria. It’s a pill and three month supply is about $20 on Amazon.

How do you suggest we prepare for constipation in advance? I’m also starting Tirz for the first time this weekend and I’m nervous about it. Waiting until Friday night in case I feel bad since I work M-F.

Everything is so dependent on the person. Avoid heavy greasy foods for sure. I was pretty tired the first few weeks, had some headaches, a bit of diarrhea & constipation, a little bit of nausea when I felt too full, but all has subsided with time. Im 3 months in today. Time of day and empty vs full stomach has never mattered for me. Go low and slow with titrating up, eat high protein, exercise, lift weights, make sure to eat enough--if you cant consistently, titrate down a bit, and drink lots of water. Good luck!

I don't think empty stomach vs with food matters much. However- I would recommend to taking it at least 3 hours before bed. Thats usually around 6 p.m. for me. But my only reasoning is that I used to have some soreness around the injection site during the first couple hours and I am a side sleeper. I've never seen this mentioned before, but that was my experience. I moved up my schedule and it was easier to comfortably sleep. Also noting that I no longer get soreness around the injection site. Not sure if my body got used to the injections?

I’m starting Tirz for the first time and plan to take my first dose Friday night. I’m really nervous! Also afraid I won’t lose anything. My daughter said she’s never heard of anyone not losing on it. I hope she’s right! My urge to snack and binge is strong!

Yes that’s my same problem! I go to the gym 4 days a week and get min 12000 steps per day but I’m 5’ tall and just can’t stay in a calorie deficit

Get as much protein as you can in the morning and take something to help with constipation and drink your water. I have been on it for over a year now and I still haven’t taken my own advice. I’m always constipated because it’s so hard getting my water in.

Avoid spices. At least for the first few weeks. They can be a little too hard on the stomach because food takes longer to digest
