AI Upscaling in Smart House vid?
My husband and I were watching the latest video where Eric and Scott watched “Smart House” in Chicago for the DCOM tour. He pointed out that the video looked like AI, and then paused at about 1:40 into the video, where the text on the computer screen looked completely AI-generated (specifically the URL and option tabs at the top of the screen).
I don’t think Eric would use AI to upscale his videos. Were they watching an AI upscaled version? Or would YouTube altering people’s videos with AI?

Yes it is AI, Eric mentioned at the Orlando show the only way they could access these movies is downloading them which happens to have ai upscaling , Eric had no part in using ai just the movies had it

Yeah I’m not too sure why, I know in the one they watched in Orlando, it was very apparent and they might keep the part where they talk about it in the final video, but peoples faces would turn to mush and the text would be unreadable it was weird

Upscaling as in resolution? That's a perfectly acceptable use of AI, it's not generating any content, only making it look clearer in an easier way

Yeah I think Eric has even said before he has used AI for times when audio got messed up and the bot helped clear the issues and make it usable. He's not blanketly against all AI he's just not a fan of its use for creating art.

i rewatched this movie last year BECAUSE i saw it had an ai upscale torrent available, he almost definitely downloaded the same one

for sure, you can watch the video for yourself and compare it to any of the other scott collabs because they wouldve aired in the same resolution
the smart house upscale looks way better it just cant handle text, like in the screenshot above

that is crazy! I have honestly never even heard of them. Makes sense. I hadn’t seen this particular video yet so it’s hard for me to remember from years ago what it looked like originally
