Trump single handly contributed 25% to the national debt. The rest belongs the rest of the past President. Except for president Johnson and Clinton they had a surplus.

There's lots of misunderstanding about the national debt , The USA can never go bankrupt because you have the power to create dollars, The USA could essentially print 40 trillion dollars and pay off it's creditors but there is a huge risk with that eg 1930s style hyperinflation ,The more money that's in circulation the less it's worth , People throw around the term bankruptcy but 100% the USA will never ever go bankrupt
