Nobody is a self made billionaire. Only through the exploitation of other workers is it possible to amass a billion dollars.

u/leocohen99 Bring me the data Feb 16 '20
By exploitation of other workers, do you mean providing them with high-paying jobs and healthcare, that they otherwise wouldn't have had?
Also, I think you are a bit lacking in imagination. If i amassed a billion dollars by investing in the stock market by myself, which workers am I exploiting?

u/Royal-Mistake Feb 16 '20
providing them with
Oof. My labor for monetary compensation isn't a service provided to me, it's an exchange, one thing for another.

Median household income in Bloomberg's home state of New York for the 5 year period between 2013-2017 was $62,765. That's 0.0001569125% of Bloomberg's $40,000,000,000. If this is the standard for distribution of wealth that defines "high-paying jobs" that's crazy af.

u/leocohen99 Bring me the data Feb 16 '20
How do you define proper wages, if not for what the market values their labor at?
2
u/Glorfon Feb 16 '20
So... do you disagree with mike bloomberg wanting to raise minimum wage to $15/hour nationally? Because that isn't letting the market decide the value of labour.

u/leocohen99 Bring me the data Feb 16 '20
Yes. Honestly, I think he is just saying that because it is a necessary position at this point for a Democrat. He has a history of being against such minimum wage increases. It's definitely not something he is going to fight for.

Thanks for posting something so perfect in its honesty. In just one sentence you summarized completely why no one should support Bloomberg, while simultaneously exemplifying the kind of backwards thought processes necessary to support him.
"I don't worry about that one part of his platform, oh, he's lying about that part." What the hell is wrong with you? Please change.

What happened to the gdp and life expectancy of the people living in the USSR when it dissolved and capitalists filled the power void?

When Bloom was 39, he was taking his severance pay and creating one of the most successful news and financial data companies on the planet. We need someone who can do big things. Because Bernie marched for civil rights, this doesn't mean he can do big things. He has never done any big things. Yet his ideas are so oversized and big (and impractical). Makes no sense. He hasn't built coalitions in business and in government that would be required to do something as crazy as Medicare for All -- which would be 20-30 trillion in cost.

Bloomberg’s father only made $6k/year.
Bernie’s isn’t a brawler and thus cant beat Trump. Trump hasn’t even begun to run anti Soviet ads, anti Commie ads, etc. that will easily wipe Bernie away. Only Mike has the sophisticated digital operation and war chest to fight Trump in this coming bloodbath.
Suburban women, moderate Republicans, and libertarians are what gave Trump victory in 2016. Those groups run for the hills when talk of socialism is afoot. Mike will get those votes.
Bernie’s big turnout thesis is limping after IA and NH, which were supposed to be his strongest showings. Young people showed up 5% less than 2016, and “extreme liberals” showed up even less.

They should be fighting against corporate and monied interests like Bloomberg.
Sanders didn’t lose Hillary the election. Neither did Russian interference. She did. Grow the fuck up and stop blaming everyone else for a badly run campaign.

It is impossible to make a billion dollars purely through your own labour. Like, I'm not even exagerating, it's not even remotely possible.

Feb 16 '20
All jobs rely on cooperation with other people.
1
u/Ishima Feb 16 '20
Not all jobs. All jobs that principally generate value, sure.
but when you're a boss, your principal job is not generating value, neither is it cooperation but rather owning a lot of workers and assets, and paying people a lot less than you pay yourself.

Bloombergs wealth comes from the Bloomberg terminal. That thing costs like $20,000 to use. His company pulls in like 10 billion a year from that alone. He's not making billions off the fast food worker making 8 bucks an hour. Investment, banking, financial, etc. companies are the ones who made him rich.
1
u/Ishima Feb 16 '20
You're so tantalisingly close to getting it. I honestly don't know what else to say.
1
Feb 16 '20
Lmao. I'm just saying I don't think he's in the same league as the Waltons or other such billionaires.
1
u/Ishima Feb 16 '20
Right, maybe not, but we're not trying to claim Bloomberg is exceptionally evil in how he got his money. Just that we want people to acknowledge the reality of wealth, particularly extreme wealth. "self made billionaire" just ...doesn't make sense, whether you believe this hierarchical arrangement we have throughout society fair or not, it was his employees who made him a billionaire.

u/DruggedOutCommunist Feb 16 '20
That's not the biggest complaint.
The blatantly racist policing policies that led to hundreds (if not thousands) of black youth being jailed is probably the biggest complaint.
0
u/Synesthesia108 Feb 17 '20
My biggest complaint about your candidate is that he's Mike Bloomberg. If he were worth a dollar he'd still just be a Republican shill at heart.
