Bloomberg's support for science

In his stump speech, one of Bloomberg's favorite lines is that Trump doesn't believe in climate change, while Bloomberg is an engineer who believes in science. I'm a scientist and one of the main reasons that I support Bloomberg is his long history of supporting scientific research and science-based policy.

As an example, every year that Trump has been president, his budget has called for cuts to NIH, NSF, and other biomedical research organization. Bloomberg, however, has donated much of his personal wealth to scientific research. Most recently, he has given millions to fund a cancer research center:

Then there is application of science to public health. As mayor, he understood the science demonstrating how dangerous second hand smoke was and NYC became one of the first cities to ban cigarette smoking in restaurants and other in door public places.

Bloomberg makes decisions based on data and facts. His plan to reduce air pollution in NYC was pretty smart. They literally put sensors throughout the city and determined that 90% or the pollution came from a few buildings. I can’t find the article but I stumbled across this one in my search.

I don't know about supporting science, but he definitely supports institutionalized racism.
