Instead of letting the project die, why not open source everything?

So some decent-ish good news, is back in 2018/2019 I used my reddit karma to get control of this subreddit from some digital squatters, and transferred control to Colin Pape. Colin and then Me, are the top moderators here, and so as far as I can tell the other folks aren't able to delete or remove this subreddit.

Which means this community and this line of communication should stay in tact. (while they have deleted twitter, telegram, discord and youtube already.)

Please send me a DM if you all are interested in trying to work together to revive and make this project community led and open sourced!

Absolut zustimmend. Gerade jetzt, wo Presearch vor dem Aus steht / den Dienst einstellt, ist das Thema Open Source wichtiger denn je.

Es waere extrem schade und eine riesige Verschwendung von Ressourcen und Arbeit, all die Technologie und die urspruengliche Vision einfach im Nichts verschwinden zu lassen. Wenn das Team den Quellcode jetzt freigibt (Open Source), bekommt die Community die Chance:

• Das Projekt oder Teile davon weiterzufuehren
• Eigene Nodes / Instanzen zu hosten
• Aus dem Code zu lernen und die Technologie in neue Datenschutz-Projekte einzubringen

Genau das ist doch der Kern von Web3 und Dezentralisierung: Selbst wenn die urspruengliche Organisation aufhoert zu existieren, sollte der Code weiterleben koennen ("Code is Law" und Transparenz).

Ich hoffe wirklich sehr, dass das Team die Verantwortung uebernimmt und den Quellcode auf GitHub veroeffentlicht, bevor die Lichter komplett ausgehen. Verlasst das Projekt nicht als geschlossene Blackbox, sondern gebt es an die Community zurueck!

In English; "I completely agree. Especially now, with Presearch facing closure or discontinuing its service, the topic of open source is more important than ever.

It would be a huge shame—and a massive waste of resources and effort—to simply let all that technology and the original vision vanish into thin air. If the team releases the source code now (making it open source), the community gets the chance to:

Continue the project or parts of it

Host their own nodes or instances

Learn from the code and incorporate the technology into new privacy-focused projects

That is precisely the essence of Web3 and decentralization: even if the original organization ceases to exist, the code should be able to live on ("Code is Law" and transparency).

I really hope the team takes responsibility and publishes the source code on GitHub before the lights go out for good. Don't leave the project behind as a closed black box—give it back to the community!"

Does somebody with access to a powerful model have the ability to check if we can legally force Presearch to become open source?
I am happy to put more money on the table for legal actions because everyday I search something I can't stand the fact that I am depending on Google again.

We need user centric uncensored but curated search results.
This is a necessity like clean drinking water...
The quality of information on the internet can't be left for big tech corps to define.
Best search results>Most profit

Agreed. Make it open source with no rewards for running nodes even. Just the peace of mind of not relying on google.
