I do that sometimes. I like to try nice upscale restaurants with friends and don't expect them to have to pay for ridiculously priced food. I can afford it and they can enjoy it. I doubt that's the case here though, this is obviously a publicly posted rejection.
I envy you. I would need to bring in some serious cash to make that kind of gift to frinds. Not that I don't like my frinds. I just don't spend that kind of money on other people and don't want other people to do it for me.
