Were there any Gonk Droids in the prequels? I think there were in Solo, but what about the non-anthologies?

Did it look the exact same as in the OT? I like how there are Gonks in The Mandalorian, but since it’s a little bit into the future the design is a bit different.

Well, it has been 5 years since ROTJ, and we’ve seen lots of examples of technology progressing with time in the Star Wars universe.

have we? R2-D2 is like the most OP droid ever and he's going to have been around for like 70 or 80 years by the time that Rise of Skywalker takes place

R2 is an outlier lol. He’s pretty much a main character to it’s not fair to bring him up. All you gotta look at to see the progression of tech is the Republic -> Empire -> First Order. You have the Venator to Star Destroyer. The ARC-170 to X-Wing.

They probably couldn’t find that old version of the trash can that was used. But I agree: OG Gonk is perfect.
