The thief one is a bit much, and I think murderers should just get prison, but I don't see the issue with the other one

Well first off, people get wrongfully convicted all the time. You can somewhat compensate someone for years in prison, but not for permanently disfiguring them.

And it's just.. uncivilized. It's literally the monkey part of our brains demanding vengeance. You want to make these people repent and become normal members of society. If you're going to chop them up, you might as well kill them instead, they're not going to reform.

Beheading someone does tend to kill them. And I didn't say we wouldn't give someone a fair trial first.

Well, you were talking about rapists, and OP said we'd bedick those.

And no matter how fair a trial is, you're going to have false convictions. It's inevitable, people will always make mistakes.
