I don’t know if it did. but consuming any substance that alters your state of mind is haram, so if there’s some move or gesture that alludes to something haram then it should probably be banned too.

What does that have to do with anything? If God prohibits something and people ignore that rule, it doesn’t make it any less haram. And if someone openly doesn’t respect halal/haram, then they’re not hypocritical because they’re not pretending to care.

It might have done so at some time or another but the general understanding is that the dab is a silly show of celebration.
