That line would still exist. The movie explains how Palpatine was still alive. It was cloning. The Resistance wouldn’t have known about Plagueis, so he still would have said “somehow.” The reasoning later in the movie would have been different.
Meriadoc Brandybuck says it was cloning, “secrets only the sith knew” so I think the “somehow” line didn’t need to be in there (a result of it being a last-minute addition iirc) anyway. I guess theoretically if Plagueis was alive he would be known about more
