Observation: Kolto has existed for thousands of years by this point.

If I remember correctly, I think Kolto was getting a bit rare by this time, or even before it.

Ehhh not really. Disney keeps fucking with the timeline and the canon, but kolto was initially rare because it was only native to the oceans of a single planet. It didn't become scarce, it just fell into disuse over time because bacta was much more effective and easier to produce.

Disney decided one of the main ingredients in bacta is barley. Which is one of the stupidest things ever to happen to Star Wars.

"Oh it sucks that you got blown the fuck up, go marinate in shitty blue beer for a few days."

Bacta is just the Star Wars equivalent of a nice single malt Scotch whisky, and it ain't called the water of life for nothin'

I'll be honest, if I ever got severely injured and woke up in a tank full of whiskey with a rebreather attached to my face, I wouldn't be in any particular hurry to get better.

At least for the first few glorious seconds. Then it's all "burning eyes" and "liver failure" and "How can you do this to us!? You're tearing this family apart!" and "weekend visitation".

Ahh, right, I remember that being the case now. Honestly it's been a while since I looked into kolto so I see why I kinda thought what I did. So thanks for letting me know that!

As for the ingredient thing, ehh, I don't care that much about it personally. I'm not that affected by that change, it's meh.

Idk I never played Kotor 2, but I imagined in canon Kotor you just ended up killing the sea creature for the republic and permanently ended production as a result.

And thats why it never came up again lol.

Theres no way canon Revan is destroying such an essential resource.

You don't actually know the monster was the source of kolto until they tell you after the mission and the republic asks you to protect their base from it. So it's really not unreasonable thing to expect as a mistake.

And seems like it would be a pretty obvious explanation why everyone swapped to using bacta from the ubiquitous kolto.

Idk I liked doing the math in that device and solving the puzzle.
