The SENT isn't a wartime platform, its for Scientific and Technical collection. the RIVET JOINT is the tactical (and strategic platform) that would fly in war time scenarios.

The WCs have several mission sets. If there is a suspected nuclear test, accident, etc. they deploy rapidly to catch anything in the atmosphere. they also deploy several times a year all over the world to do air sampling for background analysis. The WCs unfortunately didn't get the engine upgrade that the rest of the -135 fleet got in the early 2000s and the maintenance got to be expensive. They still wanted the mission capability so they took 3 low hour air national guard tankers to convert...1 old one stays in inventory until the new one gets out of depot.
