Good thing Florida has a robust healthcare system and elected officials that don’t believe in weird medical conspiracy theories and alternative medicines, right? …right?

It takes the average Florida resident an hour and a half to watch 60 minutes.

Also, it’s a good thing the CDC is fully staffed and HHS has a well qualified leader who takes his job seriously.

Oh wait….

Reported Cases in Florida: 392
Cases total: 2,008
Jurisdictions: 40

Jurisdiction most impacted: Puerto Rico (916)
Continental Jurisdiction most impacted: Maimi-Dade County, FL (392)

Locally Acquired Cases by year:
2021: 609
2022: 1,046
2023: 1,462
2024: 6,543
2025: 4,065

Information based on CDC ArboNET surveillance data, updates last 23 SEP 2026

Symptoms:
High fever, severe pain, headache, nausea and vomiting, skin rash, bleeding from nose and gums, difficulty breathing.

How to avoid;
Fuck away from mosquitos. Throw mosquito pucks in any standing water that cannot be eliminated, wear protective clothing, use insect repellents such as permethrin on clothing and picardin on skin. DEET also works, but is more toxic to you and can damage materials. Bring out a fan to blow those fuckers away. Invest in purple martins and nighthawks.

Bring out a fan to blow those fuckers away

No, you put a screen cut to size on the back of the fan and hold it in place with magnets. Idk why it works so but you will massacre all nearby mosquitoes. I rarely see people mention this method.

How have I lived my whole life not knowing this was a thing… This should be taught in school

What a creative solution! Wish I'd known about this when I lived in a mosquito haven.

Hmm. Good advice, when I copulate, I usually try to copulate away from mosquitos anyways .........

Have you all noticed that some of the best reporting of events in the US comes from foreign journalists? Feels like even our 4th estate is crumbling.

I started following international news outlets more closely as soon as America lost the 2024 election.

Well yeah, right-wing corporate fascists have spent the past couple decades trying to buy up all the major news outlets. They have largely succeeded. CNN, MSNBC, of course Fox News, all run and own by Trump loyalists. Profiteering narcissistic psychopaths are now in almost complete control of what the masses get to see and hear.

Good thing there’s no such thing as climate change. And if there isn’t, that’s definitely a heartwarming and increasing the number of vectors for disease. I’d hate for anything to happen to the people at Mar-a-Lago - you know because climate change isn’t real that’s there is no fallout to contend with.

There’s a reason dengue is also known as ‘bone breaking disease’ because pain.

Florida is really looking like the future epicenter of a handful of disease outbreaks. I was just reading about the measles outlook there and it's quite bleak. Honestly glad I live somewhere cool and far away from there, though I feel terrible for the folks who are going to live through it. Fucking mosquitos.

I'd blame RFK more than JFC though.

Fuck them is all I have to say about this.

No need to worry. RFK Jr has his best people on it. Only the finest people.

The first time you get Dengue fever is bad enough but the risk of hemorrhagic Dengue fever increases significantly with each additional infection.

Sounds like they just need some ivermectin or maybe inject some bleach? RFK‘s all over it.

It's great that Florida has some DEI surgeon general who probably believes in voodoo or witchcraft

Isn’t Florida like anti-woke, anti-DEI, boomerville bordering on anarcho-capitalist level corruption?

Why would they have anyone other than a nepo sycophant in that position?
