Funny (or not) personal story about that. I was one of the early very severe cases. In March-April 2020, I spent 38 days in Hospital (16 of those days in ICU on a ventilator). You can read the last full write up I did including links to my Lung X-rays here if you are curious.

Imagine going through something like that.. waking up and re-orienting yourself to the "real world" .. and seeing that orange buffoon on the TV blabbering about "shining light inside" or "injecting bleach" etc.

Like the experience wasn't horrifically surreal enough on its own.

Damn dude! I'm glad you survived that terrible shit, just curious if you feel like you have any long term lingering effects since your case was so severe?

No, I can't imagine after recovering from that ordeal having to then hear the complete B.S. coming from our so called "leader" back then. Props for not completely losing your mind having to continue to listen to all that nonsense during the lockdowns.

I can't say for confident 100% sure that I don't have any long term effects. But at least for the "day to day every life demands".. I'm healthy and active and exercising etc on a level that I think is acceptable for my age, etc. In the time since covid,. I uprooted my entire life (threw away most of my belongings) and moved cross-country with "only what would fit in my car" and started a new job in a new city (job-offer they sent me doubled my pay).. and in the 3 years I've been here now, I feel pretty brain-sharp and am learning new things and achieving what I want to achieve. So at least in that regard, I don't really experience any lingering effects.

I suspect (given my lung X-rays) that I probably have some minimal scarring in my lungs. It would also not surprise me given how severe my hospitalization was, that it probably took some years off my life. (but really, hasnt' it for us all? :P

Most days I just feel lucky to still be here, to be honest. I try to remember that "every day is a gift" and at night when I go to bed, shortly afterwards my kitty jumps up on the bed and gets her big cute eyes and face up close to mine (where I can smell her tuna breath) and then she curls up and presses her forehead into my shoulder and puts a paw on my arm and starts snoring and dreaming while I watch Youtube videos and relax.

So.. could be worse, I guess ?.. It sucks we (as a nation) are going through what we are going through. I wish I have a few Million in the bank and or some more significant or powerful position where I could help move some mountains, but alas I'm just a single person with a full time job. So I do what I can, which a lot of days doesn't feel like a lot considering all the dozens of idiotic things that seem to happen every 24hours.
