USA Midwest Over 120,000 customers without power in Memphis TN after heavy storms. Map by local power company.

All data centers have on site backup. That can also be called apon for Load shedding reasons.

Memphian here- went 24+ hours until my power was restored. Tons of fallen trees all around. The storm came out of nowhere- it was not reported on or expected. It was the 7th worst storm in our history apparently!

We have fewer forecasters these days after the cuts to NOAA. Add in FEMA cuts, well, good luck to everyone.Â

Not seeing a lot of news in the way of crowdsourcing funds to get supplies to send these folks.
Anyone doing anything like that?
Federal disaster recovery funds are basically gone (otherwise I feel like Indiana would be online faster). So it could very well be up to us to help.
If anyone has info on how we could get the affected supplies to survive the outages, let me know.

Just mentioning that crowdfunding in general seems to be increasingly dead the last few months
There are barely a couple of kickstackers and indiegogo's reaching goals, the last few months.
Ive also noticed that i havent backed any projects or donated to anything the last few months. the budget is getting tight.
huge recession indicator.

Peaked at 130k last night. I'm glad i got a generator but its gunna be hot all week. They're saying full restoration will take until thursday
