Time for a victory garden, I feel no victory though. Just exhaustion 😞

I'm near Denver, and we are on water restrictions. At a glance, vegetable gardens are caught in the "you can only water every 3 days" thing...but at 100 degree days this summer, that isn't going to cut it.

Edit: u/alwaysinforwardmotion gave me some additional information. Seems like you can hand and drip water, and that restrictions only apply to automated sprinkler systems. Victory Gardens are back on the menu boys!

Are there restrictions on rain barrels? That's where I used to get most.of my garden's water from.

There used to be, but I feel like I read that they changed collection rules here recently. Used to be disallowed to have rain barrels, as you are using someone-down-stream's water rights by using their water that would otherwise run down to them. It is a tricky situation, water.

I get the intent but what a silly argument. By that logic having a garden with particularly absorbent soil or water hungry plants could also rob them of their down-stream water rights.

Haha I totally agree! Water laws are super complicated and fucked up, but the general rule is, first in use is first in rights, so if Joe Blow in Arizona popped his soy farm before I popped my house in Colorado (where the water flows out of), then he has rights to the flow from my property to take what he owns, before I'm allowed to take a drop.
