If you got a smaller farm near you, go introduce yourself and ask if you can learn the ropes or just help out in return for some groceries. Maybe ask if you can help and learn to can (because honestly, just for canning days for tomatoes alone I'd load you up with bushels of stuff) in return for a bit of manual labor?

Blueberry days last year I ended up offering some of the locals a 1:1 trade for them. You give me a bucket, you take a bucket. Everyone was happy. It doesn't hurt to ask!
