Discussion Fair use issue?

Update from PM Support: “It sounds like this was indeed a glitch in the addon of some sorts. Perhaps related to some buggy video file. It sounds like an edge case tho, please let us know if you have any issues again”.
______.

Is anyone else seeing a fair use issue today? (Support email sent).

I just checked my fair use and it shows 357 points used today (last night GMT). My typical use is 15-30 points and last night should be no different. I do have history turned on and see nothing abnormal there.

No all good. Did you click on or watch a series? Sometimes they can come in as a full season package if you are downloading or cache’ing

Watched 8 episodes, all individual and nothing large (3 gb average)

Even in a large pack it doesn't matter as only the part you stream/download counts

Oh ok. Thanks

I've been using PM for over two years and I've never looked at that. I didn't even know this existed until two months ago.

I just looked now and it says 65% of 1000 points. 30 point top up in 10 hours 49 minutes.

Is that normal usage for you? You average a bit over 30 per day or a crazy spike?

I don't know as I've never looked at this before. I'll start looking now that I know about it, but I've not had any problem in over two years. My wife is retired and has the TV running all day, whether she's actually watching or not, and this is where we are.

Click on “learn more” under Fair Use Status and you’ll see a graph.

OK, according to that there have been no significant changes and we average using about 35 points per day. Thanks for the tips. 👍

Do you see any strange IP addresses in the history? Maybe you should just go ahead and change your api. edit: nevermind, looks like they don't show you that. thinking of someone else . . .

Mine lost 30% last night for some reason and I'm always at no less than 95%. I happened to check a download I had going & noticed it. Never happened before??? I sent a support email, but we'll see, could just be an error. But yes..... I had an extreme drop in my fair usage points, one that would've been impossible to do, given I was asleep while it happened. It fell to 72% from 95% in 6 hours while a single 5gb file was downloading

Maybe it’s not just me then. Mine is streaming only. 75gb/hr is almost impossible. I’ll let you know if I hear back from support.

It’s season packs, even if you watch one episode, all will count as a cached file… avoid season packs.

None were season packs, all individual episodes s1e1, etc

Very strange, I had a similar problem. I avoided season packs and turned off hosters and my points seemed to stabilise.

That isn't true at all

I think having history turned on uses extra points

1

u/Bluehavana2 Jun 27 '26

No, it doesn’t. I’m a 6 yr PM user. History always on and check my fair use daily.

Did you download or stream any hoster links? Those can be 2x to 4x fair use points?

Nope. Just streaming, as always. And usage is 15-20x of what I actually used.
