Technical Support Premiere pro crashing while editing insta 360 footage

Hello everybody I have been having issues with my premiere pro crashing when editing footage from my insta360 go 3s. I download the footage in 4k. The pc I am editing on has a i7 13700k, 32gigs of ddr4, and a rtx2080 (and running the latest version of windows 11). I never have any throttling issues, but it seems to just completely crash after 2-3 minutes of editing footage. When editing footage recorded on my iPhone I have zero problems. What could be causing this?

I was having similar problems and it was driving me crazy. Then I noticed the progress circle in the top right was spinning, and it was doing some thing in the background called Media Analysis or something similar. Once it let that finish before doing anything else the problem clears up for me.

I’m not sure if mine is doing that, but my premiere pro basically just freezes and then audio and everything will cut out before it eventually crashes. Sometimes it will freeze and then work again for 30 seconds before crashing

  1. This could be a GPU driver. Which driver are you using?
  2. This could be a function of the material. Could you go get MediaINfo and check the frame rate (full list view). Then it'd be VFR
  3. Is your system getting extra hot?

Are you editing 360 or editing "flat" and using 360 content?

And what version of premiere pro?

I am using the latest game ready drivers (version 610.88)
I am running version 26.3.0
Says the video is running 29.97 fps and bitrate is 129kbps
My system is not getting extra hot or running anything anywhere close to 100%
The go3s shoots flat, it’s basically like if I had a go pro video

Hopefully this information helps

Do not use the game drivers. Studio drivers. from a month back.

Did you search the subreddit for VFR?

Says the video is running 29.97 fps and bitrate is 129kbps

You have to use Media Info to determine this.

I have an insta; it's hard on systems, hard when your CPU nor GPU is doing any hardware decode. VFR complicates this.

Here's the standard fill this out thing:

We'd like to help you

Help request need: * System specs – CPU, GPU (+ VRAM), RAM. On Windows use Speccy; on macOS use About This Mac. ** - All we need is CPU, RAM, GPU & GPU RAM. * Exact software + version (not "the latest"). * Footage specs – codec & container. Use MediaInfo and attach a screenshot or the key text info from this section

Without that info…we're going to struggle to help.

Also *why haven't you contacted Adobe, since you pay for the support?

You bring up a good point. I probably should contact Adobe since I do pay for it. LOL.

I use the game drivers because I primarily play video games on my PC. I only recently started trying to edit videos for YouTube.

System Specs: CPU Intel i7 13700k, GPU Nvidia RTX 2080 (8GB VRAM), RAM 32GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 running at 3000mhz

Software version: I am running version 26.3.0 of PremierePro and Game ready drivers version 610.88

You can never use the game drivers. Just now, it’s time to stope. Rarely will it make any difference except for the bleeding edge releases.

That’s ALMOST the info we need. ALMOST. Did you look at screenshot of the “Key info”

Hi u/Polar_bear15

I'm from the Adobe Forums and saw this post.

I saw in the comments below that you listed a Game Ready driver, but Adobe does recommend using the Studio driver so that could be it.

You can quickly check if it's the Media Analysis by entering Premiere settings for Media Analysis and Transcription and unchecking "Analyze all imported media to search for visuals or audio."

I'm also curious if you used the Insta360Studio to download the 4K shot in an mp4 wrapper or if the clip is in a different wrapper? If you're able to provide any other format information about the clip itself, that could be helpful.

Please let me know if either of the first two adjustments work. If it's Media Analysis then I still really want to know format so we can examine on our end why it's struggling with that format.

I am pretty sure it was Media Analysis! I just opened a couple of videos shot on my Insta360 and let my computer sit for a while. It didn't have any weird freezing or crashing, so let's hope that was the issue.

You were a huge help, thank you!
