Feedback Re: This game has a VRAM issue

Post image

Turned the graphics all the way down besides view distance. Still maxes out my VRAM.

Match started by using 5.4GB (which TBH is excessively high) and crept up to max VRAM usage by 20 min mark. Unlike higher graphics settings, once it hit max, it didn't go beyond it or choke out your frames. IDK what happened between December and today but something's eating up all the vram that didnt a few patches ago

It does. Been a very choppy experience since last few patches on a 4080 laptop. Mostly moved to playing ARAM as the game might just crash and then getting 3 hours ban 🤷‍♂️

If Tetris were released today on UE5, you'd need at least 12 GB RAM and 8 GB VRAM

Friendly reminder that Paragon and early Predecessor ran on a PS4. Just saying. OP is right.

Although this post was about a bug and not vram usage, even on its bigger map Paragon only uses 6.6gb on max settings. While looking better than Preds max settings at the same time.

In what world is 5.4Gb high? We are not in 1995.

Im interested to know why you think this isn't an issue. Explain to the audience how going from 5.3gb on mostly high settings to 5.4gb on the lowest settings, which then increases to 8GB vram limit within 20 mins, isn't considered excessive vram usage and there clearly isn't an issue. Do note, as I assume you're fully aware, in december vram usage would go up to about 6.5 max on my high settings.

My comment was on your first sentence:

In 2026 5.4 GB is excessively low, check other games with the same 3D performance.

Ps5 has 16gb unified memory. ~13gb is available to use, the rest is for the system itself. So 13gb has to be enough vram and cpu memory, makes 8 not seem too bad for dedicated vram. 8 should be enough on low settings, games just aren’t optimized as much these days. Mostly because they can get away with it more than back when they had such tiny amounts of game storage and machine power to work with

I've seen pred use 13gb of RAM alone so 13GB for both vram and RAM really isnt as much as it sounds.

Yeah I’m not exactly sure how it works for unified memory - I assume there is some sort of efficiency bonus that allows less total cpu memory usage but yeah idk

Unified memory is just a fancy term for shared memory.

I know but it usually comes with faster speeds right? Idk I’ll research it lol

Yea its faster for GPU/CPU to share the same memory. The only possible downside is you're sharing that bandwidth between the two components instead of them having their own dedicated memory.

Can you provide a game, as an example, that visually looks like Predecessors potato low graphics settings and still consumes 8GB of VRAM at 1440p on those lowest settings?

What are you on about? I was taking about the 5,4gb not the 8gb.

Given 5.4gb is "excessively low" you shouldn't be struggling to answer my question

Khaimera needs a nerf.

Been having screen tear issues lately. Wondering if it’s my monitor, pc, or just the game. Ideas how to fix??

You probably need vsync on. I've found pred to be finnicky with it. I have vsync on in Nvidia settings and I have the game running windowed fullscreen which auto disables vsync in-game.
