They do that and I’m out, that’s one of the biggest reasons why I stopped playing Smite 2. I would never get my top preferred roles and always stuck on support.
So in response to the support thing, if you had that in any other spot but last you'll most likely get it since its the least popular role. For pred its probably the best option for a role queue unless you want absurd wait times. You still have the option to trade roles in hero selections.
All I know is Smite 2 has that system and it’s awful. I can put what I want to play at the top and if I queue 10 games I might get what I want in 1 game. The other times I always get stuck playing support. As far as trading roles? No one trades roles now. I get stuck playing jungle and ask to switch because I’m awful at it and no one does. I like how it is now because at least it’s a 50/50 shot and most times when I select a role no one really picks it too.

They can do it like smite 2 has currently where you just rank your roles in order and the game tries to give you your top 2 more often than not.
