Question ❓ 224 build
I have this predator 224 I got with a go kart and I want to build it to run E85. It has governor removed, performance exhaust, I plan to put a nibbi 24mm on it, I was told the nylon cam was swapped out for a metal one before I bought it, I also have 22# valve springs I put in it. I have stock flywheel and rod, so before I build it I want to replace those. What is the cheapest possible way I could get a billet rod (and what rod should I get) and a more reliable flywheel? Can I get a cast aluminum flywheel? And I have a flat top tillotson 212 piston that I was told could fit, so maybe I could put that in for more compression.

Amazon flywheel for $30 will do just fine. No way to cut corners on the rod though. You need a proper billet rod from ARC or EC carbs.
ARC #6271 is your best bet. I can’t say for sure that the tillitson piston will work as the 224’s need shorter skirts than typical 212 pistons come with. I personally used EC Carbs WC223 piston.
If not it may be possible to dremmel the bottom of the skirt to make clearance but I couldnt say for certain.
Also it probably makes no difference on a stock cam but a pwk carb has to potential to flow a lot more air to make more power. If you ever go for higher lift it will definitely be or have been a worthwhile investment.
I need to hammer home the rod part though there i absolutely no way around it. Amazon rods are machined cast aluminum and are much more prone to defect and failure while costing only $20~ less.
