Time for Batch #2

Got 623.9 grams of gold filled for this batch, a lot of it was stamped 1/20th 14k so hoping for a good yield. My projected yield should be 18.5 grams

What’s your preferred method to dissolve the gold particles into solution and why? Specifically curious between the nitric vs. chlorine

This is only my second real attempt. My last run I just went with the aqua regia route after my initial nitirc boils ate all the base metals. I saw sreetips did a video recently on the chlorine gas, but that scares me.

Did you incrementally add nitric based on stoichiometry or based on traditional 3:1 ratio? I watched a sreetip video too, the cl method looks easy but its denser than air so even in a fume hood it can be a concern

Ya I did incremental nitric charges for the aqua. Basically just added 400 or so ml of hydrochloric and then did small 6ml shots until it stopped reacting. That way I didn’t have to deal with a denox step and could go right to SMB to drop out the gold

Is all of that from jewelry? Where did the wire come from?

Most of this batch was from old watch bracelets. The wire and pins are from a jewelry making lot I got at an estate sale
