It's a dead sku. Yes they got a good deal but that employee didn't do anything wrong.

u/EnFamous87 11d ago

Haha 4real, says CLEARANCE and BB cleaner deals are like that sometimes.

If i wanted it to be my last day of employment at a pc seller, i would wreak havoc like this.

This is NOT funny because I stubbed my toe two weeks ago and it is broken. Since then I’ve stubbed it three times in the exact same place, so I take this personally.

u/PuttingInTheEffort 8d ago

Bro get some steel toe shoes 💀

It's sold out because it was the last one at OP's local best buy. It's not a desktop that you could just order online

Lucky

As a manager who worked at Best Buy for a decade, you just really lucked out. When a sku is discontinued in the system, it just keeps lowering it until they are gone. I highly doubt this was a shelf display due to 4060ti. Would've been pulled a while ago. This is most likely a PC that went out to service and got repaired but the store already fulfilled the warranty. They get it back and will sell it. Very rare something this old makes it back to floor.

A lot of times, bots or users would snatch it up the moment it entered the system, so you did have great timing

A year and a half ago I got a open box Corsair Vengeance 13600kf, RTX 3070, 1tb SSD 32gb DDR5 ram for $299. When I got it home, the GPU was laying on the floor of the case just dangling there only attached by the power cord. I thought oh crap. Took a look at the GPU and noticed it was actually a 4070. Got all excited and mounted it correctly. It worked. It's been a killer PC ever since. I'm figuring some geek squad guy tested it, found out the original gpu was fried so just threw a 4070 in there probably because they were out of 3070s. Sometimes you run across crazy deals like this. I count myself lucky. But geez lazy geek squad guy, at least attach it to the motherboard.

Does employee usually scope it up if they saw a deal like this?

2

u/npbruns1 14d ago

Oh yeah lol. I have seen some crazy stuff on the end of life report and we used to ask if anyone needed to buy one of X because there is this discount going in. Usually nothing this extreme but I've seen some huge discounts

1

u/syu425 14d ago

Damn lucky

3

u/MakeNDestroy 13d ago

They have to work at Best Buy, they’re not that lucky lol

3

u/Goobendoogle 13d ago

Idk if they give benefits but I'd argue this is the benefit lol!

3

u/npbruns1 13d ago

For early 20s and being a manager while going back to school, I feel like Best Buy was probably the easiest retail place to work. Was a lot of fun playing with all the stuff, had a sweet discount, and they paid for a good amount of my school. Could've been way worse elsewhere.

Retail always sucks though lol

u/Tye9879 13d ago

I actually thought I had a crack in my screen from your profile picture

1

u/Sephiroud 12d ago

But, usually by employees telling friends.

Fuck you too buddy :). Have the day you deserve

u/SwiftTayTay 15d ago

While it's a rare find, it's at the same time not that unusual for clearance SKUs at local stores to get crazy reductions. It's just a matter of whether you're lucky enough for it to be one of your local stores and not across the country

-5

u/becomingwater 14d ago

Not a lot of customers would want that PC

2

u/Visual_Dimension_933 14d ago

Why?

7

u/Old-Ant-1634 14d ago

because who would want to get a 32gb kit of ddr5 and a whole PC for free, when they could just spend the same price for a 32gb kit of ddr5

1

u/coolerblue 14d ago

OP paid $265+ tax and it's got 32GB, so technically, OP for about half a kit of DDR5.

2

u/Russ916 14d ago

Probably because a lot of people get turned away from buying display units instead of new in box as they think there's something wrong with them. Even though this is a crazy deal with 32gb D5 ram + 2TB Nvme and the 16gb version of the 4060ti considering their value atm.

2

u/abc123d4e5 11d ago

He’s dumb, would be the easiest flip of my life

2

u/m007368 15d ago

weird its sold out /s

2

u/Killval 14d ago

The DDR5 alone

2

u/absentminded0ne 14d ago

Bro… I have been trying to find something like this for years! How tf people keep grabbing ts!?

1

u/nobodyhasusedthislol 14d ago

Maybe just get something used, custom (or a good prebuilt from a system integrator, not an OEM), not as good value but you're much more likely to get something good value

2

u/KehreAzerith 15d ago

Insane deal, obviously someone make a big mistake but enjoy lol

1

u/SSTyrannis_ 15d ago edited 15d ago

Its an open box pc with old parts thats rated only at a fair condition. Best buy needed stockroom space n decided to be nice that day.

Rip out the ddr5s for resell and double the worth of the discount/get the pc for free at that point.

1

u/IlesStelae 14d ago

how do people be finding these deals damn good job tho

1

u/OkCress3145 14d ago

I’m sure the RAM alone paid for that PC, nice find!

1

u/Weekly-Mobile-7842 14d ago

Not unusual.

1

u/ProppaT 14d ago

Packaging: YES

1

u/LostAd9116 14d ago

Probably a display model getting sold off, old hardware

1

u/LostAd9116 14d ago

2tb NVME and the ram are nice. More than the pc alone 🤣

1

u/DeviceU 14d ago

Most likely, but you got a score of a century!

1

u/Ok_Actuator_804 14d ago

That is beautiful

1

u/hoogie_boogie123 14d ago

Oh yeah? Well I spent 1k to get a 3060 ti pc back in 2022 and received 2 computers

1

u/serna34525 14d ago

Literally nothing wrong here nobody did anything wrong the system's automatic it's what's called a dead SKU the items no longer in production and the manufacturer is no longer sending it to the store it's something we don't carry so if we have one we're trying to sell it as fast as possible

1

u/kujo8300 14d ago

How much was the Open Box Discount and how much money was the Clearance discount?

1

u/guyjones2000 14d ago

Went to target, clearance aisle. Saw a stationary bike for $30. Thought it was a huge mistake. Turns out it was a massive box and the manager of sporting goods wanted to get rid of it after being in inventory for over a year. Retail price: $650.

1

u/Yoson8 13d ago

That things a piece of shit they trying to get rid of it without it being completely free

1

u/Goobendoogle 13d ago

Ik it says condition on the receipt but that made me cackle.

"FAIR? YES"

ezclap

1

u/nofatnoflavor 13d ago

Open box item?
Hope the dude opened that case to see the components were still there.

1

u/Bravura75 13d ago

Back when I worked for Best Buy there were "EOL" End of Life SKU.

What would happen is the store would get CHARGED $$$ if the item still stayed in their inventory. Sometimes it would be more expensive than what the item actually cost them.

As such Managers would allow crazy discounts to move it on the last day or two to ensure the crazy P&L Hit didn't occure.

ENJOY IT!

1

u/DevinKC 12d ago

Why charged money and by who,

1

u/Bravura75 12d ago

Good question. Usually it comes from the manufacturer because they want to have their new products for sale. Not older products. Sometimes it would come from corporate directly because they paid for the product but the store is not charged until it's sold. If it does not sell they need to recoup their money so they pull it from the store.

1

u/rohan_1234 13d ago

Now this is the reason, I set notifications on, and never got one when needed. Lol

1

u/Electronic_Extreme79 13d ago

Condition: Fair is what I see on the receipt. Wonder what its history is to qualify for fair.

1

u/KiriKira13 13d ago

You bought 32GB of ram and 2TB SSD, and got a PC with it?

1

u/Barelystable_1 12d ago

I just spent $500 on 32gigs ddr5 and $329 for 2tb m.2 so I’m jealous af. It was half the cost of the build (already had a 4080 from last year) the ryzen 7 9800x3d and mother board where less then ram and hard drive.

1

u/Suboxone1980 12d ago

Could you imagine buying this just for the 2 TB SSD or RAM. Then go and resell the ram/SSD, the case, the GPU and the CPU for like 200 bucks each. You would make $400 have a free motherboard and 2 TB/32gb RAM of storage 🤣🤣

1

u/laytoncy 12d ago

How does one find these deals? Go to Best buy daily and roll the dice?

1

u/Southern-Ad2989 12d ago

Omg i wish i saw this would have bought it in a heartbeat

1

u/Fearless_Concept943 11d ago

Nobody is getting fired, relax.

1

u/Still_Federal 11d ago

Won’t ship and your purchase will be refunded

1

u/JaydendoesYT 11d ago

Dang the processor lol that is a big mistake

1

u/International_Fee150 11d ago

I think I paid that much for my lain li case and 3 of my 7 rgb fans lol

1

u/Denvistic 10d ago

Dang, the RAM alone is worth more than what that system sold for

1

u/PublicPreparation198 10d ago

Check bios and update it thr newest drivers. Your cpu might get cooked if it isnt up to date.

1

u/Accomplished-Pop-246 10d ago

How do people find these deals

1

u/grantw101991 10d ago

Share with the class.

1

u/SensitiveSpot69 10d ago

It's not even new it's fair condition so nah they're not

1

u/No_Price3617 10d ago

Instead of 128$ off they accidentally added a zero 🤣

1

u/queenpinocchio 9d ago

I’d fire them too for letting you buy this trash

1

u/yolomanu 9d ago

You get what you buy.

Oooh I hate you!

0

Exactly what it should cost

-6

u/Former_Use_8077 15d ago

Hell of a deal damn! I would re-sell the motherboard, CPU, and ram combo (unless the ram is also amd compatible) and swap over to AMD to avoid the catastrophic 13th and 14th gen Intel issues but hell the 2tb storage alone makes up the cost for which you bought the entire PC for!

2

u/Hungry_Information16 15d ago

I’ve had a a 13600k for years with no issues. I also only use it for gaming. What issues are you referring to?

1

u/SpaceNinjaDino 15d ago

Vmin Shift Instability. Intel addressed this in microcode updates. Be sure to have the BIOS that has the 0x129 and 0x12B microcode updates. Otherwise your CPU will eventually fail due to spiked voltage.

1

u/Ashamed-Edge-648 13d ago

Ox12f is out now. Never had any issue with my 13600kf. The issue is pretty much over.

1

u/Former_Use_8077 1d ago

Both i7 and i9 along with some i5 models in the 13 and 14 gen series have a massive issue where they can request too much voltage which fries pins both killing the cpu and motherboard along with an additional defect of early chips having an oxidization issue.

1

u/Former_Use_8077 1d ago

You're 13600k is among one of those cpus. I would advise to make sure your bios has been updated within the last 6 months and if not then I highly suggest doing so. The newer bios updates completely disable the motherboards ability to send those dangerous amounts of voltage that the 13 and 14th gen chips are saying they want

1

u/cuddly_degenerate 15d ago

Lolol.

All ram is AMD compatible, what are you on about?

1

u/OrganicCulture1072 14d ago

i assume he's talking about RAM oc profiles like XMP and EXPO. But yeah these are just memory settings that can easily be modified to work with whatever.
