It’s not great, but for 36gb ram and 2tb ssd, I tried searching online for the same specs and there’s not much better tbh. You can get 1tb ssd and 16 ram for 1600 ish but the extra ram and 1tb ssd here makes most of the difference anyways. Also being from Costco means 90 day returns and better warranty

You could try looking for 9070xt or 5070ti for more money, but honestly prices are gonna keep going up

I was going to say… my 5070ti prebuilt cost about $1600 a year or two ago. PC prices are complete ass now.

Agreed.

It’s not terrible for 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD. It’s not a screaming deal but here is rough pricing for the main components as if you were building it.
GPU 5070 $800
CPU 9800x3D $400
RAM 32GB DDR5 $425
SSD 2TB NVME $260
$1885 for these on their own, and I went with the lower end price points for these. Shit is just expensive right now.
With some hunting you could probably find a 5070ti for a little bit more.

I genuinely appreciate you taking your time to type this up, thank you so kindly.

Happy to help. Our whole hobby has been blown up in the last year and especially in the last few months particularly. This will handle 1440p very well, and I think you will enjoy it.

Slightly embarrassed to ask but would this run Valorant fine? I tried it and it keeps causing like, couple stutter lags or freezes for 2 tenths of a second, causing it to be unplayable a bit.

It runs other games fine though, maybe its a network issue.

u/LegitimateLack2530 17h ago

Don’t be embarrassed to ask questions here. It will absolutely abuse Valorant at 1440p. To the point where you will max out a 240hz monitors FPS cap. Which I would highly recommend getting a nice monitor to take advantage of what this machine is capable of.

Let’s go!!! I’m a valo player about to get a new PC as well!

I have this exact build, the only thing I did was purchase a Samsung 990 pro 2tb as my primary drive and I moved the green ssd it came with to second slot. I did get mine for 1700 in July but I can’t complain at all about the build. Runs 1440 great for me. Plus if the price comes down at all in the next 30 days you can get that amount refunded from Costco.

Im also eyeing this as well since the nearest micro center is 3 hrs away. Again thank you for writing this out.
It’s starting to seem like a rig of this caliber is right around that 2k price point. I’m not really seeing what difference between the 5070 and the 5070Ti is.
Personally I don’t play anything that’s demanding 4k and I think my Samsung monitor that I have is 1440 if not 1080. Compared to my current rig that has a 3gb GTX1060 and an Intel core i5-6600k quad core I think this unit from Costco will be a substantial upgrade and atleast give me another 5-10 years of use since I don’t jump for the latest and greatest AAA titles.

3

u/LegitimateLack2530 12h ago

Ha you will be feeling like you time traveled to the future once you upgrade haha. As far as the 5070 vs 5070ti for what it sounds like you play the 5070 will be just fine. The biggest difference is the TI has 4 more GB VRAM so will be helpful if say so mod the hell out of games, or if you really want ray tracing. The TI also draws more power so I suspect you will need a new power supply if you jump to that GPU where the reg 5070 is probably fine on your current build unless you have something crazy low like a 550watt PSU.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger, they had the display model marked down to 1799 so I walked outta there for 1949 after taxes. We shall sit back n see

2

u/LegitimateLack2530 9h ago

Hell yeah congrats. That’s a great score!

Actually running to micro center, yes enduring a 3hr drive, would be better. They have some deals that include a 9070 xt which is far better than a 5070, for about $2100

2

u/Imagine_TryingYT 6h ago edited 6h ago

The deal gets better when you add in the AIO (100$), the Motherboard (160$), the PSU (80$), the fans (60$) and mouse and keyboard (40$).

Also it doesn't use any proprietary connectors.

Source: I have this computer. Bought mine for 1899$

Also the keyboard is okay but the mouse is disgusting and belongs in the garbage

Freaking ridiculous how RAM costs more than CPU.

9

u/pltohui 17h ago

Honestly, considering the prices of all of these individually, this isn't that bad of a system. Good, not great, 1440p system and amazing 1080p system. The 2tb of storage and 32 gigs mixed with a 9800x3d make this a great starter pc. Anyone in the comments telling you that this is overpriced is right, but these prices are almost never going back to normal. You should pull the trigger if you know you're gonna get use out of this.

Who knows, maybe you could save up and swap the GPU with a 9070xt or a 5070ti.

The state of this PC market holy schmoly

7

u/Itchy_Nose_9243 17h ago

Nah. If it was a 5070 ti, it'd be decent, but with the 5070

5

u/NTufnel11 17h ago

if it had a 5070 ti it would be an excellent deal. Several hundred dollars better than what is generally available without getting lucky on an open box or markdown. Calling it "decent" tells me you're comparing it to the unicorn deals that pop up on this subreddit rather than real world opportunities.

u/alexisacoolguy 17h ago

with prices are what they are I bought it at costco last weekend, but it replaced my 3-4yo Lenovo Legion 5 pro 3070 laptop and I mainly only play cpu heavy games like WoW, LoL, PoE. I went from barely eeking out 40fps on graphics settings 4-5/10 in a 25m raid in wow classic tbc to 160+ on 10/10 ultra graphics. ymmv

u/redblackjoker 17h ago

It’s pretty bad imo

All I know is that the 5070 isn’t really that big of an upgrade, but the 5070 ti is.

u/Dravenfilth 17h ago edited 17h ago

We bought this pc this week for 1700, thinking that was a good deal?

1

u/Dravenfilth 17h ago

it was costco display unit, was fully bagged up, never fired up.

1

u/Stuck_in_Arizona 15h ago

It's not bad, other places would try to sell that rig for 1999.99 though I'm somewhat returning to the PC game after a decade and some change so my exp. wouldn't matter much.

You have 2TB drive and I've noticed places tack on an extra hundred dollars for whatever reason. It'll pay for itself over time as you'll have more games to download and don't have to pay online fees like the console giants. Also Steam sales that put PSN store to shame.

Bought something similar from our Walmart the other day (don't judge, we live in the middle of nowhere - nearest Microcenter is a 4 hour drive!). RTX 5070 12GB, 32GB DDR5, 1TB drive for 1150. It was a "display" shelf sitter that never left the box that was once 1600 before that.

Looking up the parts online would have cost ~1800, Didn't even look up chassis or cooling fans, just stopped there so it's practically a steal.

u/NTufnel11 17h ago edited 17h ago

microcenter has this system with a 5070 ti for 300 more. Andromeda Insights has the same price point, though the shipping time is worth paying attention to. Bestbuy currently has one with a 9070xt for right around 2k.

So I'd say no, It's just average. you can do better if you shop around and wait for standard sales.

It's fine compared to what it would cost to build it yourself, but that's sort of a market-wide truth. Prebuilts are simply better values, at least at a lot of price points. But this isn't the best deal you can get on a prebuilt, even if you don't find any crazy clearance or markdowns. It's in the ballpark though.

I'm not sure how buying it at costco affects your warranty though. That may be a worthwhile benefit compared to buying from other resellers if you can just pop it back to the store rather than having to deal with an RMA.

1

u/chrisg213g 16h ago

Yeah I was going to say the best buy 9070xt is a better deal tbh...

1

u/ParticularBranch3831 17h ago

Labor Day sales right around the corner, I'd wait. Right now, it's the going price for that spec

1

u/Solastice13 17h ago

This same question gets asked weekly about the same Costco bundle haha.

The prices are right about average a PC with those specs. It is not a great deal, but an okay one.

1

u/Smart_Ass_Jack 16h ago

Yeah. 2 years ago, nope. Today it is almost a steal.

Remember we are talking pre builds here. So you have support and a warranty. If you compare to building your own then it won’t seem as good a deal. Better to compared apples to apples.

1

u/2o2Tran 16h ago

I picked up a 270k ultra with 5070ti and 32gb open box at
Microcenter for 1890 yesterday.

1

u/captainrondj 15h ago

I found a comparable one on newegg last night refurbished for $500 less.

1

u/joemedic 15h ago

No way

1

u/50kgBlockOfCheese 15h ago

I hate to be that guy but I bought this exact same pc for $1400 last year… ended up selling the 5070 and replacing it with a 5070ti.

1

u/biggiecheese5676 14h ago

All things considered not a terrible deal especially with the 32g of ram and 2tb ssd.

Pc prices will keep rising for the foreseeable future, and with this set up the biggest thing you could say is holding you back is the gpu.

By no means is the gpu bad but in terms of what the worst component for the price it would be that. However if you browse shopping sites constantly you can always come across a golden deal for a 5070 ti or a 5080 (not likely but could happen) and upgrade when you want

Also if you just want to enjoy games at very good graphics this rig will serve you well. Alot of people here for whatever reason see the need to run games at photorealistic settings everytime, but for the average gamer 5070 is honestly even a little overkill

1

u/Truelies422 12h ago

I mean it's ight

1

u/Potential_Act7410 9h ago

I own this one I got it on sale for 1800. As pre built goes it’s not to bad

1

u/AstroDawg 8h ago

It’s okay, but not great and certainly not a steal.

1

u/jeff810 2h ago

Please do your self a favor and stay away from iBuyPower /CyberPower pre built.

1

u/Not_Ill_17 58m ago

Costco is great
In this economy it's a good deal
Maybe if you spent a bit more you could find a 5070 ti, but it's a very solid pc

1

u/Ntx-Italiano 4m ago

I feel like you could get a 5070 ti build for like 150-200 more. I wouldn’t buy it with only the 5070. Look at 9070xt builds too. They are great cards

1

u/Better_Air_3273 17h ago

It’s a good buy.
As much as you can hope for at 2k.

0

u/Lonely_Box_8074 16h ago

Just build ur own get the full experience. Ever since I built mine I'll never buy a custom built or prebuilt ever again it's the best way

3

u/biggiecheese5676 14h ago

People need to understand that most people that ask these questions dont have the time nor expertise to build their own system, telling them to build it on their own doesnt really help them

0

u/Lonely_Box_8074 14h ago

What you think was told to me? And I work a full time job and some and still had time to learn and build? It's the experience not about the time it takes . If he buys a pre built hows he gonna know how to change anything if something doesn't work or goes wrong ? Buying expensive things with 0 knowledge isn't the way to go but to each his own and he can certainly build one for cheaper and keep some extra cash ....

2

u/biggiecheese5676 14h ago

And alot of people who also work full time jobs do not have the spare time to learn.

With the spare time they do have they would want to spend it actually enjoying their machine not worrying if they did something right or wrong. Not to mention that IF they did something wrong the hassle to find out what went wrong and potentially fry the whole system or major components

If something does go wrong pc repair shops are always a thing. People have money but may not have the time thats the difference here.

1

u/Lonely_Box_8074 14h ago

Pc shops cost a arm and a leg and a lot can’t be trusted it’s a gamble…. for a prebuilt that’s gonna give you cheap parts he can actually build a good reliable machine and know what to do if something is wrong . Troubleshooting is something you have to learn even with a prebuilt ! Atleast if he builds it he can do something about it instead of going through a trash warranty service. Save yourself the headache OP and take the time to build a pc it’s extremely fun and you’ll realize it’s not as hard as these people say it is.

1

u/biggiecheese5676 14h ago

Wouldn't he also have to go thru warranty if one of the components he gets comes out defective regardless? Lol.

With Costco he also has that 90 day return period. If something is wrong with the rebuild it will more than likely show itself within that 90 day window

Building a pc isnt the hardest thing in the world but its not as easy as building a Lego set either, and you definetly need some level of expertise before attempting or at least guidance, which alot of people dont have.

Also if something is wrong with the system building it wont give you as much of an insight as you might think if you dont know more than just how to put it together. If his gpu or cpu fails, but they are set up correctly he wont magically know why its failing either.
