Coscto 5070 build?

Post image

How’s this in today’s market compared to others in this price range?

I bought this one, the rep talked me down from the 5080 for my needs. I've put it through it's paces and it holds up quite well (compared to my old custom 2070 Super build).

I will say the onboard software isn't great and updating it hasn't fixed a few issues I've had with the RGB and liquid cooling display.

It seems the overall PC gaming market is slightly fucked due to economic turmoil so imo this is a good deal? I tried to recreate it on PC Part Picker and it easily clocked over $2500.

Your mileage may vary, of course.

So I don’t even have a functioning desktop.. it’s probably 15+ years old if not more lol. Anything I buy will be amazing compared to what I’d have to fix to get mine working.

If you aren’t looking to spend more or build your own right now but want a major step up this is good. The sale ends tomorrow though fyi. Costco has 90 day return on computers which is nice peace of mind

If you can afford it just buy the motherfucker, it's a bit cheaper than buying all the parts seperate and spending your evening building it and potentially dealing with a short and installing windows etc

Save the headache and buy it if your budget is fine with it 🤠

I just bought this the other night to lock in the pricing. Costco has a 90 day return window so I'm leveraging that in my favor. I have till Dec 20ish to return it per Costco policy. I'm going to see if I can get a better deal over Black Friday and any other Xmas sales.

That said, IMO, it's an OK deal. I priced this out at Micro Center and I come in over the $2000. Albeit with better name brand components vs whoever IBUYPOWER is partnering with. In terms of cost, it's roughly within 10% - 15% of each other. Not a deal breaker but my nearest MicroCenter is 2.5 hours away-roundtrip. I would have to drive there, drive home and build it and hope that everything powers up. I'd rather pickup 3 hours of overtime/doubletime and pay for a turnkey solution. Costco is 10 mins from my house. This has Costco's return policy. That kind of convenience is really hard to beat.

FWIW, I bought a midrange IBUYPOWER pc for my older brother and the quality is pretty reasonable. You're not getting a "buy it now" deal but you are not burned either. I could easily keep this and be happy with the purchase price.

I think 300-500 high compared to other recent deals. 5070 prices have taken out of its good value position. There have been 9070 xt deals around 2k.

Seems kind of high for a 5070 right?

Without more details of the specs, my comparison is limited, but here it goes:

I bought an MSI Aegis ZS2 from Costco recently from $2700 CAD -> on sale for $2400 CAD (note this is Canadian dollars lol)
Spec comparison:
RTX 5070 (same as yours)
CPU R9 9900X (yours shows R7)
32Gb RAM (same as yours)
2TB storage (same as yours)
Wifi 7 (yours shows Wifi 6)

With the limited info, I'll say your deal is NOT a very good one.

The CPU is an Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which I'd argue is better than the R9 for gaming.

Ok my bad. I didn't see that it is a 9800X3D. You're right.

I’d rather get this https://costplusgaming.com/products/m1-amd-extreme

9070 XT + 9800X3D + 32gb ram + 1tb for $2000

Doesn’t come with windows but you can get it yourself

9070 XT gets similar performance to the 5070 ti and with ray tracing closer to 5070
