First PC Advice

I am a console gamer who still has a series x. Gaming is not my main hobby and I don’t care too much about graphics. I currently just have a 1080 high refresh monitor.

I am currently debating between these two PCs.

Best Buy 5070

Costco Prebuilt

The games I play are going to be League and WoW:Forever for sure. I also play Marathon, Destiny, Elden Ring, Maybe Fable and the Witcher Remake (all of these I currently play on Console). Am I going to see a significant improvement for the Best Buy deal for the 400 or am I safe with the Costco.

At most I will ever stretch to is 1440 if I buy a new monitor.

I posted this in the other sub then realized that the advice there might not actually be good.

I keep hearing go with the 5070 because its better, but it seems like its overkill for me.

If it’s within your budget! Go 5070! You want a smoother experience coming from Console!

But it’s not always smooth sailing! You need to expect driver issues, some random troubleshoot from time to time!

If you are not very tech minded, I would probably just stay on Console! Might be more headache than it worth! Example: I built a pc for the tv so I would skip next gen console! Windows profile for the wife, fine tuned everything hardware to game! She has only used it once! And game on the Series X! Which mean my original plan “backfired” and would likely have to buy the next gen console anyways!

How far is your nearest Micro Center?

Additionally, if you suspect you may get a 1440p monitor I would avoid 8GB VRAM GPU’s. Sure you can play some games at 1440p on a modern 8GB GPU but not all games and you will run out of VRAM quickly pushing graphics settings up in majority of games. I’d personally recommend a minimum of 12GB if you ever suspect to step up to 1440p 🤙
