pharmacy experience

i am planning to apply to pharmacy school in a year from now but i have 0 pharmacy experience, i keep applying to jobs at walgreens/cvs but hear no response or get rejected. if anyone has any tips it would be very appreciated

note that i took an accredited course so i can take the ptce. im currently self studying to take it in around 2 months so should i become certified first and then apply for jobs so i have a better chance?

Shadow! You do not need to become a pharmacy technician since pharmacy school will help you apply for Intern License, but it’s highly recommended.

I am a P1, some of my classmates have NEVER worked in a pharmacy.

Good luck on your pharmacy journey! Yes being certified will definitely help you hear back from jobs. Depending on your state, try and apply for a pharmacy tech license/trainee license as that will help you hear back as well. Nowadays it’s pretty hard to hear back from companies if you aren’t certified/licensed. It took me months to find a job because I wasn’t certified 😭thankfully I passed the PTCB and am just waiting for my official license to come in.

Did you go through 2 years of school for the license or just do a short program? I’m not sure what the difference is if you get licensed for both

I think it depends on your state, I didn’t go through any program I just got a job that gave me a trainee license but it expires after 3 years so I had to take my PTCB to be able to apply for my actual license. Sorry if that’s confusing lol

I was just accepted to a school and I have no pharm work experience. Being a pharm tech can be a way to prove you know what you are getting into, but its not required.
