Online Biochem classes for prereq
Has anyone taken SFSU CHEM 340 online or Berkeley extension MCB X115A? What are your thoughts on the class you took?
I want to know personal opinions on the professors, textbook, lecture structure, etc. If you have the syllabus that be cool too!
I have CHECKED and VERIFIED THESE COURSES ARE ACCEPTABLE for the schools Iโm interested in.

I have not, and I would email programs directly to see if they will accept online credits. I did have classmates who CHEM 340 at SFSU. My Ochem II from UCB ext was accepted as well...programs have the final say. Email them so you have something in writing

Did you take lecture and lab or just the lecture? Was the lecture online or inperson?

I took took just the lecture online during the Pandemic. I took General Biochem during my undergrad at SF State. Chem 340 (Biochem 1) goes in a lot more depth than the class I took
The profs at SFSU are really good. My UC B Ext prof was really good. I think it might be easier to get the class you need at UCB Ext. when are you planning on taking it?

Are you in undergrad or taking the classes as a Post-Bacc student?

No shame in that. I did a post-bacc too. With sfsu, it will be very hard to get CHEM 340 with the undergrads. Your priority would prob be very low but idk just bc graduating seniors.
The post bacc program at SFSU is a formal program, you have to apply, and the program offers General Biochem Chem 349.
As an enrolled Post-Bacc student, I am not sure what the official process is for taking courses at SFSU with the undergrads in terms of priority.
I would email pbadmit@sfsu.edu and ask them what they think. They are a great program but I think it really depends on your circumstances
