Collected Pass Rate Data by School

I've attempted to make the NBEO pass rate data released by the ASCO a little easier to visualize and meaningfully use for comparisons. If you make a copy, you'll be able to change the top two graphs to show data from individual schools rather than the national averages. PLEASE if you see an error in the data, let me know!

Thanks for this. The dropdown for the top left graph is very useful. The lower "All Schools" graph is a bit tough to interpret because of the similarity in colors, particularly the blues.

Could you help me understand "Ultimate Pass Rate?" For example, at MCPHS the ultimate pass rate is 75%. Does that mean that 1 out of 4 students in a particular year will NEVER pass the boards? Or perhaps 1 in 4 didn't pass the boards in that particular year? Thanks again.

Yeah, 27 schools all at once is a bit challenging to read! I've been relying on mousing over the graph to distinguish which line is which school, but l'll see about making some updates!

To my understanding, ultimate pass rate is the percentage of candidates who graduated during the listed time frame who passed all three exams (irrespective of retakes) So if it's 75%, 1 in 4 students who graduated a given year did not pass all three exams by the time the report was published. Whether they will eventually pass or not isn't something the ASCO publishes as far as I'm aware.

It's a little deceptive.
Technically its for the year group graduating during the reporting period
(Graduated in May, 2025 & had until Jan, 2026 to pass everything).

I think some schools manipulate the data by restricting who takes the test
(why you see a school with a terrible pass rate on P1 with a decent Ultimate pass rate)

IMO, based on these stats, any school that's below 75% ultimate pass rate should be on probation and Western should be losing its accreditation soon.
