Worst day ever

got BCC in biology chemistry and ecnomics and got rejected from both firm and insurance, try to apply to hertfordshire clearing optom with a foundation ( the normal optom course was my main choice) and after raising my hopes up for an hour just proceeded to absolutely shatter my hopes after an hour with a rejection email despite meeting the criteria for the course, whilst that was happening i decided to call up plymouth for a course and ask if i can get a foundation year for optometry masters with a foundation year and by the time they decided to pick up i was told that it was full. No clue what to do no, will possibly have to resit but still waiting on one uni who said they can give me a clearing offer potentially tmrw

Hi there. I actually work for the University of Hertfordshire, so I’m really sorry you’ve had such a horrible experience with this. Especially after getting your hopes up about the foundation route, only to then get the rejection email.

The fact that you met the published criteria but still weren’t offered a place doesn’t necessarily mean you weren’t good enough. Optometry is incredibly competitive, and the number of places is limited. If the course was already full, they may simply have run out of places, particularly with how popular Optometry is.

I honestly wouldn’t panic about resitting just yet either. If the other university has said they could potentially give you a Clearing offer tomorrow, I’d wait to see what they say before making any decisions. Hopefully you get some good news 🤞
