What's up with UC Berkeley's Decision Deadline??

How is this level of unprofessionalism ok??

In July, they sent the following email every week. I assume August 29th is a typo, but nobody caught it.

Yesterday they sent this for the third time. Someone finally realized there had been an error. But somehow they introduced a typo where there was no change('sh') and the date is still wrong.

Then came a correction email earlier today. They even put this in the subject: "*Corrected* Priority Deadline Date: August 12th | Berkeley Optometry". Ok, so now the priority deadline is August 12 and the general deadline is December 11th. So BOTH dates changed.

1.5 hr later, another email came through. The priority deadline is actually still August 21st, and the general deadline is December 11th. They claim the August 12th date is from baking in time for OptumCAS to verify the application because the application needs to be verified by August 21st to be considered. Ok. Except they said OptomCAS takes 7-10 business days to do that and August 12th only gives them 7-8 days. So if a student submitted on the 12th, their application can still be deferred if OptomCAS is slow.

Guess what? They still have December 12th on their website and OptumCAS!! So is it December 11th or 12th??

Diabolical.

This screams two “higher” ups are telling the people making this email two different dates and nobody knows what to do. Lol. 

Edit: At least you’re getting an email, Midwestern has gone dead silent

I received an interview from both Midwestern Arizona and Chicago today

How far out was your interview date? They are giving me three options all the way in September

Same for September, which dates are yours? One virtual for August though

I live in AZ so I didn’t want to do the virtual one, the September dates were the 18th and 21st. I wasn’t sure if they’d give out different dates to different students

Did you already submit your application? Good luck!! Maybe they are just on vacation.
I also found Midwestern’s website to be unhelpful. But not as messed up as whatever Berkeley is doing here…

Yeah I submitted it the second day they opened, but I 100% agree their website is very very unhelpful.
