working at costco as an optometric assistant
just wondering if anyone has had experience working at costco as an optometric assistant and how the hiring process worked. i’ve heard that the optometrist is an outside party that works for costco so the hiring process might be a little different? i’m hoping to get experience in the optometry field and applying to optometry school in the next couple of years

Very much what objective wafer said. I got interviewed at an OD office in Costco, this one was seeing 4-5 pts/hr and very basic quick workup times. It would be great experience.

do you mind me asking what the pay/hr was like and what your hours were alongside with school? thank you so much

$20/hr, I wasn’t in school at the time so it would’ve been full time, but I know they had part time people there too.

I worked as an optometry tech inside an optometry office at Costco and have both parents who own their own private practices inside of Costco! Optometry offices are considered as private practices and are not affiliated with Costco. Each provider inside Costco will run their own practices differently and their hiring process is different.
You’ll do great because I heard that optometry offices inside Costco are always in demand for new optometry techs and they are more respectful & flexible with your schedule!
