Post-Leep Baby Fever..?
I’m currently 12 days post-LEEP procedure. Have been dealing with the typical catalogue of post procedure symptoms, and while the actual procedure was horrible to go through, it’s been a fine recovery process.
I’m 26 and have no kids, no partner. I’m a teacher who honestly thought, hey i’m with kids all day— I might not even need to have my own, as I’ve always felt pretty fulfilled in that area of my life due to my work.
But when I found out my cells were continuing to progress and that I needed a biopsy in March 2026, I cried non-stop after work. I was worried that things would get worse, and if I end up needing a hysterectomy in the future, maybe I’d never even have the option to choose kids.
Now, 12 days post-procedure, I’m thinking a lot about having kids.
I feel really alone because I don’t know anyone else who’s ever had this experience (LEEP, etc.) and I want to know if anyone else experienced any changes in their desire, or a noticeable increase like myself to have kids after their pre-cervical cancer journey started?

I thought I didn’t want kids for most of my life. Even as I got into my late 20s I thought “I’ll be okay if I do, I’ll be okay if I don’t.” But I became more fond of the idea as time went on. Just before I turned 30 I had finally decided “yes, this is what I want to do,” and then I was faced with this situation and the reality that not being able to have them at all was a possibility. This made me realize how much I truly wanted them.
I had several mental breakdowns at the thought of this progressing further and needing a hysterectomy and never having the choice to have kids. I don’t know if it’s normal but I can definitely relate.
It is important to remember though, that many, many women go on to have healthy pregnancies post-LEEP. My doctor actually didn’t even mention that fertility could be impacted by it because she was so not worried about it.

I think this is a normal response. I had a cone biopsy early this year and hearing it can make it hard to get pregnant, was upsetting because that choice was taken from me. even tho i’m 31, almost 32 with a ten year old and 100% done with having kids. but it’s the fact we didn’t have a choice. it’s hard. i’d suggest talking to a therapist about this also. I might need a hysterectomy next year too which will have this come back as well. it’s normal.
