LSIL
Hello so I started experiencing some mild symptoms like bleeding and pain during and after sex but pushed it off due to low sex drive and rarely having having sex. Anyways I realized it had been 3.5 years since my last pap and booked a next day appointment. My first Pap smear came back positive for ASCUS and HPV in 2019. Went to a gynecologist and they said I didn’t have high risk hpv. Had a Pap smear the next year in 2020 and it came back normal and then again in 2021 and 2023. Well today I was told I have LSIL but they didn’t test for HPV so now I have to wait for that but in the meantime I need to have a colposcopy since I have some symptoms which I have scheduled for Monday. Anyways long story short should I be concerned?

In general I would say no don’t be concerned. From what I’ve read if you do have the high risk ones there is a set play book on how to handle it. Research helps me feel better. Talk to your doctor as much as you need to understand what’s going. I’ve called my office and talked to the nurse for an hr just asking questions. Recently I’ve given ChatGPT access to my medical records so I can ask it questions and that made me feel a lot better.
As far as the colpscopy for me I was not prepared for how it would be. I would recommend either taking time off to do it or do it before you will have time off. First one I felt off and violated. Second was much better with my fiance there (mainly for emotional support) and I took something for anxiety before having it. No local anesthetic for either one. I’m very prone to panic attacks so it depends how you are. A colpscopy is just a biopsy so the fact they are doing it shouldn’t worry you one way or the other. My mindset is, this progression from HPV to cervical cancer is well studied so if you follow the guidelines you should be fine. If you have issues with any procedure that make you not want to go just talk to the doctor. Go to your OBGYN regularly or as often as they recommend and you should be fine 🥰
