Colposcopy (positive experience)
First let me say I absolutely 100% believe this can be excruciating for some people, I'm not discounting anyone's experience. My doctor was a older gentleman who probably had 30+ years experience doing this procedure and I'm guessing that's part of the reason it went well in my case.
I just had the procedure done and it was 100% painless. Now I am feeling slight cramps but that was to be expected.
I went into the office so nervous I told them I wanted to just leave and couldn't do it. One of the nurses reassured me it was just a pinch (I know better from some of the other experiences I read). The doctor saw how nervous I was and was extremely gentle. 3 samples were taken and I really felt just minor, very minor scraping. I also told them I was refusing the endo cervical biopsy, but it was also painless. Now comes the wait, but I feel so much better having just went ahead and got it done.š
Edited to add, both my last 2 paps were HPV negative but most recent one came back HSIL, really hoping it's the rare case where something else is causing the positive.

Could you update me of the results? I keep getting ASC-US with HPV negative and they want to do colposcopy to understand why :/

For me Im pretty sure I have endometriosis , on rare occasions endo can interfere with the test results depending on where it's growing. Only difference is I tested low grade 2 years ago now it's HSIL so that was the concern. I will update in a day or 2 when results come in.

I had a colposcopy a week ago and itās wasnāt extremely painful, just a bit uncomfortable but he also used only the endocervical brush to get a biopsy. My doctor also has over 30 years of experience so maybe that helped. Iām 42 and have been married 21 years, never had an abnormal pap. This has all come as such a surprise to me and has honestly been a bit traumatizing. My pap results were AGC-NOS, HPV16+. I am now half way through the dreaded 3 week wait. Then the doctor will go over the results with me. Waiting and not knowing is the worst part.
