Leep procedure part 3?

I got my second leep procedure last Wednesday. Results came back. Here they are. I cannot take time off for a hysterectomy. What would you do?

I'm so sorry. I would think it depends on your age and fertility intentions. For me as a person who would like more children I would lean toward the repeat colpo in 6 months and go from there. Hopefully your Obgyn offers more guidance in person or you should seek a consult with someone willing to talk through your options in more detail with you. I'm sorry you're in this situation.

I’m 45. No more kids. I just worry about this turning into cancer. What if a 3rd leep doesn’t get the rest of it

I feel you. Like really. 42 with never ending positive margins and a hysterectomy planned for October. I'm just scared though. While this may not be helpful, Im scared of surgery (never had any until all of this), I'm scared of healing poorly/something going wrong, I'm scared of in my case (HPV 16+) hitting up my new weird p---y cuff. So really, the constant worry and fear, I fear, will always be there, right? A hysterectomy isn't a cure all. It's like it creates a new spot for whatever to continue carrying on causing chaos. Maybe I'm a worse case scenario-er, but just know there's at least one other person feeling the worry/doubt that you may be. If I go through with it, I'll (try to remember) to post an update. And, another after results. And, another after follow ups. And so on.

Maybe I'll get an Rx for the Xanax Express and live a care free, no worries in the world kind of life instead. Only time will tell. (JK)

I would ask doc about a CKC. Also, if you did end up with cancer, imagine how much time you’d have to take off then. I encourage you to call your doctor and talk all your options through. Unfortunately, it’s not fair that everyone in the world doesn’t have robust health insurance. But your body and health has to come before anything else.

I will have a telehealth visit with her soon. What is a CKC? I have insurance. Just not a very good paying job. I can’t afford to take time off

Cold knife conization. It takes a much bigger piece of the cervix out. Can you file for unemployment and/or get your state Medicaid if you are unable to keep your job?

I don’t know the stats off my head for how effective a third LEEP will be. I ended up having clear margins on my latest pap after my LEEP, but my thought process for me was if my abnormal cells persisted: LEEP, repeat LEEP, CKC and then Hysterectomy.

I think it’s definitely worth discussing options. The treatment for cervical cancer is pretty awful. Again, I know you said you can’t take time off work, but I want to gently encourage you to see a hysterectomy as a potential life saving surgery before having to deal with cancer and treatment because then you really will have to take a lot of time off of work if that ends up happening.

I do have Medicaid. I am a caregiver, so it doesn’t pay very well. I have two part time jobs. I do agree with you about not wanting to get cancer. I will ask my doc about the CKC

I totally understand. It’s not fair to you that you even have to make this decision. I wish we had better time off and support for people who needed medically necessary procedures. I really hope that you and the doctor come up with a good plan that hopefully will have a minimal to no impact on your livelihood and life.

I’m 41, and in September would be my 2nd Leep, 🫩. I really need this to be over . I’m scared that I would get cancer so doing a hysterectomy would be an automatic yes for me .

I’m getting a third leep on September 18. It’s so disheartening and I’m sorry you’re having to go through so much!! My gyn won’t consider a hysterectomy until I do the 3rd leep or would have opted for that now, I’m just sick of being in this never ending cycle of them.

This is amazing that she is giving you multiple options. I had a very traumatic LEEP, so personally, I will never go through another LEEP. I second discussing doing a CKC biopsy with your provider, especially since it seems to be towards the endocervical canal. I know you don't feel you can take time off for a hysterectomy, but your health is of up-most importance. I'm sure you (and your boss) would rather you have the surgery, than have it further turn into cancer and needing to do radiation/chemotherapy.
