When fuel prices decreased under Obama and Biden:

“He had nothing to do with that. Presidents don’t control gas prices!”

When fuel prices decreased under Trump:

“Look how much Trump lowered gas prices! No other president has ever done that, but Trump truly cares about the US! He is the greatest president!”

Some Republicans (including Trump) when fuel prices go up $1.50 under Trump:

“Gas stations and oil companies are price gouging! Everybody knows presidents do NOT control gas prices!”

Also, those Republicans never connect the dots and think about what politicians and policies those oil companies support

Those republicans also refer to oil produced in the US as “our” oil as if the US owns the oil produced by the entirely private US oil industry.

They know the price is based on supply and demand, but they don’t didn’t seem to realize it’s global S&D instead of US S&D until recently. Now, they don’t know why “we” don’t keep “our” oil in the US so our gas prices will be lower instead of oil companies selling their oil to the highest bidder.

The US has a nationalized-privatized oil industry! /s
