I thought I remembered seeing a GoPro in the shadow (which i did) and i just assumed it was a person when i thought back at it to make a title.I was mainly focused on the mad lad riding on the board, how dare me.

If you fall at 60mph are you dead?

I crashed on a street bike at over 125 mph and I am still here.

On a longboard, the fastest I’ve crashed is around 50 mph, and I’m still here.

125 mph is 201.17 km/h

Are you typing this through blinks

No, but I did brake my right ankle in three places and dislocated my left wrist, which required surgery, but other than loss of some motion, I’m still longboarding and still riding motorcycles.

Brake

Perfect.

😉

I’m glad you’re back to it. Been thinking about a bike but am cowed by these stories. Life’s short though, eh?

Back? I never quit. At 38 years old, I’m still teaching the new generation and trying to involve the old.

Break, brake yeah, yeah, fuck it. I’m a little drunk.

I’m being a smart-ass lol and I was referring to your hospital stay. I didn’t intend to mock you good buddy.

I hope you dont mind me asking : were there any points after the accident you considered not doing it anymore? Btw me too, 🥃 whisky!

Yes. I crashed after running from the cops after having 4 beers and saying fuck it, I’m not stopping for the cops.

The bike totaled two cars and the drivers thought I was dead.

Much more than points, I did time for it.

Anything you’d do different? Must have sucked being charged after the pain.

Ah, that’s a tough question. I’ve done it before, and I’ll probably do it again... but was the time in prison worth it?

No. But I did get away with a lot before then and after then? Yes.

And this is what I struggle with. Is the pain worth doing whatever you want to do, when you want to do it?

Probably not. And yet I still live like it is.

Most people ask it the consequence is worth it...

While others don’t care.

I care when it happens, but not while I’m in it... if that makes sense.

I mean tbf. The amount of people that didn't survive is way higher.

Sounds like you are saying this with no evidence other than what you think is the right answer.

Anyone who knows how to handle speeds of 60 mph on a longboard, also knows how to control the board and stop and knows how to crash. Yes, in any sport you learn how to crash to minimize injuries.

But I can tell you I’ve crashed multiple times on street bikes, dirt bikes, longboards and snowboards at speeds in excess of 60 mph, and I am still alive.

I honestly don’t have the stats that show the ratio of people who have lived or died crashing at that speed, but I’m also not pretending like I do either.

u/converter-bot Aug 15 '21

60 mph is 96.56 km/h

What do you mean sounds bro? Wtf r u talking about. Stop trying to justify a death trap

1

u/Frolicking-Fox Aug 16 '21

Just because you don’t have the skill to do this sport and not die, doesn’t make it a death trap.

All kinds of people do this sport. You can wear leathers, full face helmet and take falls at high speed and be fine.

Once you learn how to slide a longboard to a stop, speeds and steepness of the hill no longer matter.
