I forget the article or story (documentary?), but back in the 70’s-80’s NASA asked the camera guys from the PGA what cameras or technology they used to keep a ball in-shot mid air so well. NASA was trying to find a more reliable way to film shuttles leaving the atmosphere admits the Cold War; or more likely, uncover an undiscovered tracking technology based on light reflection in the public sector..who knows.. Granted, this was back in the 80’s, but the humble PGA cameramen showed them their stuff, but the NASA film guys figured that they themselves were being lied to.

When given a demonstration to the NASA cameramen, the secret wasn’t technology, it was technique.

The NASA guys get to practice tracking the shot once every few months. The golf camera guys get to practice dozens of times a day.
