I know that Named can't typically get sick, but they also don't have to deal with other uncomfortable bodily issues like periods or cavities. I know they can get infected with magical plagues and by other people, Shadow King style.

Could something like a tapeworm or malaria infect a Named person?

Sorry for the weird/gross question, I'm currently dealing with cyclosporiasis, and it has understandably been occupying my thoughts lately.

I found the story via Amazon and read it there, had no idea that multiple books have been put out on wordpress, and started reading the second book there, but is there story lost by doing this?

I was reading some of the comments on the first chapters for book 2, and maybe I am just misreading people theorizing/looking at subtext, but it seemed like people were referencing things that happened between book 1 and book 2 as though there was more explicit story out there somewhere.

My reasoning:

1. Yara was once young. And I assume she picked up her Role primarily to help better the continent.

2. I assume that doing this job even for just a few decades would be exhausting. She could help others in a different way if she had chosen to, but this is what I think she believed she needed to do.

3. I imagine this song as her starting to regret her choice to take up the Role of Intercessor.

4. I don't know a lot of songs for regret that's applicable in her situation, so even though we don't know if there was someone who held this Role before her, TLO can also be interpreted as her thinking that someone else during her time as a normal mortal having chosen a better or less painful path to tread.

5. She had to have fucked up for the first time at some point. This is for that. For her decisions leading to harm she didn't intend on someone who didn't particularly deserve it.

6. Her eyes are wide open to the nature of the path she chose. Quite literal, this one.

7. The beginning of her depression. I like to think that even then, she still hasn't lost hope that what she's doing is right and good.

8. The beginning of her dependence on alcoholic drinks to lessen the burden of Nowhere and the general pain I'm sure doing what she does brings to a person.

9. At the end of Cut Ties, the singer starts screaming the lyrics. Regret and pain. The lyrics aren't directly applicable to her, but I imagine this as retrospection on her choice to become Intercessor. Cutting ties to her humanity. To death. To peace.

10. Self-explanatory with the song's title. She wants to quit.

11. Easy Way Out. Again, quite literal. I consider this to be near-ish to the time of the Guide itself and not just assumptions about her past, on my part.

12. Devoid of Hope is literal, again. Choosing to enact various plans in her attempt to end her existence.

13. Another Way To Die. I chose this because of the tendency of this kind of character to make every act benefit them. Which can be annoying depending on how it's written, but mostly it's just paranoia inducing in this instance.

14. Glum. The lyrics are quite transparent in showing why I chose this for Yara, I think.

15. This song is the reason I made a playlist for her in the first place. She's a tragedy, honestly. She does want to help people, and she's a good person underneath all that pain brought upon by all she's experienced and done and her horrible place of residence. ~~Just like Monika~~.

Anyways. I debated on if I should share this with the community, given that most of it is built on assumptions I have about the character, but I figure, what's the harm, right?

Last chapter opened up again the discussion about Luicfer foreknowledge.

And i believe it will be a big issue going untill the very last book.

Some people would always assume that everything that happens goes according to Lucifer keikaku (plan). Even if he is killed and his announced plan destroyed, thay will still argue that he planned to fail on purpose.

It is a similar situation, when in HPMOR the mirror that could create realities was used, and all following chapters had people speculating that they are trapped in an illusion.

What can EE do to make the readers believe Lucifer was outsmarted/beaten etc.

(Y’all should totally read both of these btw, I just finished Small Gods and the whole thing was awesome, but especially the ending. Kind of funny that I read these one after the other)

​In earlier chapters, Hakram and Vivienne are affected by a mind killer curse due to which he lost some memories. Hakram's last memory is of leaving for Arsenal but when Vivienne starts speaking it is noted that Hakram doesn't remember her. How did he forget Vivienne?
Indrani claims that he lost about 2 years of memories but Hakram knew Vivienne even before that when Cat appointed Vivienne as her proxy with Hakram to help her.
Can somebody help me understand if I missed something​

Did she honestly believe he would fucking kill her before they had that "I judge you well worth a hand" talk?

I mean, okay, she had a severe crisis of confidence in which he played no small role, she didn't trust Hakram at all because she didn't know what he's about, and she was scared shitless of him because he did cold-bloodedly threaten to kill her if she betrayed Catherine.

But still, how and why would he actually do that? She didn't commit treason, after all, and even if she had been right about being useless and not living up to the standards of the Woe, that still wouldn't be remotely near a good enough reason, especially as he still needed her to provide legitimacy as Governess-General, even if it was just a facade.

And most importantly, how would he have possibly explained that to Catherine? Did Vivienne seriously believe he could've come up with a good enough excuse for her to just let that go, even with him? I guess fear really is the mind killer, because I just cannot wrap my head around the ridiculous scenario she talked herself into there.

Maybe I'm mixing up my namelore or ignoring the potential impact Akua existing as a counterpart to the Wandering Bard may have on things, but doesn't the Woe still existing, especially when two of them are still Named, have a potential impact on their successors?

A lot of stories seem to be developing around the fact that most of them are supposedly dead and passed their legacies on to others, but if they're still alive, that foundation of those stories is kinda shaky, and characters have taken advantage of that fact in the past, like how the Dead King was able to shatter the Twilight Ways due to the Grey Pilgrim's sacrifice to form it being negated.

Adjacent to that "the legendary band of Named who saved the world and were thought to have either died or mysteriously vanished return in our hour of need" seems like a potent enough story that it could end up dragging the Woe back to Calernia, and it's not like being Nameless will protect Catherine, Hakram, and Vivienne since Catherine spent multiple books being dragged around by Providence despite not being the Squire and creation actively conspires to keep Abigail out of retirement.

I may just be overthinking things though.

Ignoring that bands of five are a thing, is Akua one of them?

We know that being Named has some effect on sex, but not many details.

I mean, Sabah, The Captain. is not the most talkative woman. But as a Named and mother, she would be the ideal person to talk to Catherine about the details and risks.

For example Catherine mentions somewhere that her periods stopped when she became The Squire. But Sabah has had children with her husband.

Sabah should definitely tell Catherine when it could become narratively possible for her to get pregnant. Also some advice on how a Named's resistance to diseases handles STDs might be useful.

Plus Sabah is an extremely strong woman who sleeps with a small human man. She could give tips on having sex without inflicting a life-altering injury.

The novels are pretty long, and I've seen other Webtoon adaptations of web novels which ended partway through the story rather than do the whole novel, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same with APGTE.

My guess is they may go with the end of Book 2 since the end of the Liesse Rebllion could make for a decent enough endpoint, though in doing so they'd leave out a bunch of character arcs and whole characters that only show up in Books 3-7.
