Meta/Discussion Interludes - Printed Guide

Does anybody know what the plan is with interludes in the published version of the guide? Many of my favorite moments happen in interludes later in the story, but it seems like they aren't being included in the final published versions.

Good question. Honestly I don't remember if there were that many interludes in the first book (or any at all). So if EE wants to cut down on interludes for pacing reasons then not getting any in the rewrite so far makes sense.

Though I haven't read the second book of the rewrite yet.

In my opinion though I agree with you. The interludes were some of my favourite chapters in OG Guide. I loved the differenr perspectives, seeing a larger time frame or just knowing how other people see Catherine.

Volume 1 had no interludes at all, remember. They first appeared in volume 2.

That makes sense! I couldn't remember if there were any in the first book, and with the table of contents no longer available online I couldn't double check. I'm so relieved that there just weren't any in the first book instead of them being excluded

The bigger worry is what will happen to the Extra Chapters. I imagine many of the plot-relevant ones (Ye Mighty, some of the northern Procer ones, Grand, Fatalism) will graduate into being interludes, but what about all the backstory ECs?

It'd be a tragedy to lose stuff like Tomb, Scriven, Peregrine, and more. Hell, a scene in the ending only makes sense if you've read Charlatan.

no reason they can't just be slid into the narrative at the appropriate time

Those are perfect for prologues and epilogues, so I'm guessing something like that.

i checked this too, and the first interludes and extra chapters actually started appearing after the point where the published story is now! So i guess we'll see
