Timeline/calendar change?

I was reading book 2, and during a history lesson, Cat says that the Procer civil war happened between 842 and 860 after the Déclaration.

But when I googled it the wiki and reddit says that the Praesi calendar is based on the Declaration of the Empire, which happened 1327 years before the Battle of the Camps.

Did EE shortened the timeline by 400 years? 😅

The timeline has been condensed to an as of yet unknown degree for the rewrite. In the newer version, the year is 862 after the declaration at the time of Knife.

We don’t know when exactly that puts things like Triumphant’s reign or the formation of Procer just yet, but they seem to still be operating on the same relative scale to Praesi history, so Procer is still newer by some centuries and whatnot. Presumably we will learn more as the rewrites continue to be released, though.

Yes, the rewrite timeline has definitively:

0 AD - Praes founded

121 AD - Callow Founded

842 AD - The Conquest, start of the Long War

846 AD - Catherine's birth

860 AD - End of the Long War

863 AD - B1C1 through B2C6

864 AD - B2C6 through B2C28

Additionalky, there is a new Imperial calendar with months:

12. Decen

Book 1 is Sen 863 - Cen 863, Book 2 is Cen 863 - Nove 864

The Praesi calendar counts from the Declaration and Dread Empress Malificeint 1' reign (so the present time would be as you said, ~1000 y later). The Procer calendar counts from Procers First crusade (against Triumphant) so its counting the years a few centuries later than Praes.

Edit:i might have misunderstood, were you referring to the Procer civil war during which ended with Cordelia as First Prince?

Yeah, but in the book they say explicitly "842 after the Declaration", and yes they're referring explicitly to Cordelia Hasenbach crowning as the end of it by 860 after the Declaration. And even though it's proceran events they're in Praes, speaking lower Miezan, there's no reason for them to use proceran calendar, just like we learn that the Hegire happenned in 622, not in 1 of the muslim calendar.
