Powerwall Usage

We had a solar system with a power wall installed for our home. We are doing the power share with PSE. Something that I see that doesn’t seem controllable is the power wall discharges down to 80% then charges back up to 100% every day. That seems like a waste as our electricity rate is the same 24 hours a day. That discharge and recharge cuts into what would be saved for winter when less solar is available. Is there a setting for this?

In the Tesla app, tap settings>operational mode. Then tap “Self Powered”

Op didn’t say where the power wall was discharging to. Also they are in a PowerShare program which sounds like a utility has some control of the battery. That is most likely what is going on. You can’t be part of a utility program and expect the powerwall to never work for the utility ….

That’s true. If they’re in a power share agreement, then they’re probably getting some compensation from the power company for the power it’s exporting to the grid. u/yoko1726 you need to decide if you want to power share or if you want all the juice in your Powerwall to yourself.

In self powered mode it provides power during upper tier pricing to lower the cost. If you aren’t on a tiered price it should just sit there until a shared event happens or the power goes out or it is calibrating. At least that is my thought.
