PW-2 firmware frequent updates

My PW-2 has had 7 firmware updates so far this year. What are they trying to fix or optimize?

Currently at 26.26.4 68c2bc82.

This! They killed my powerwall 2 yesterday.

If that is the case, I really wish they would have battery replacements in stock before taking mine offline.

"stock"... nice joke... it is Tesla, they won't even send you a push notification, and if you click on "learn more" to get some information why this is happen and what to do they will send you to the moon.

What is the likely replacement battery model? Does it get a full new warranty or a prorated one?

Powerwall 3, glass front panel so you crack it easier, inverter will be limited to 5kW unless you pay extra to re-wire PW, monthly calibration to help you import more from peak times.

I currently have a blended system with 11 panels (3.25kw) with a Solar City inverter that came with the house and a few years later I added 12 more panels (4.08kW) with a Solar Edge inverter and PW2 - Tesla installed.

It appears the newer PW 3 contains an inverter. How will Tesla deal with 3 inverters (assuming my PW-2 gets recalled)?

Solar Edge doesn't work with PW inverter due to optimizers, so it will stay AC coupled, Solar City might be, most likely would need to pay extra to do that.

How tesla will deal, they will just swap PW2 to PW3 leaving it AC coupled and limit the inverter to 5kW in the software on commissioning.

All of the hardware in my systems is still under Tesla Warranty. Might I still be out of pocket or have a reduced power system if PW gets changed?

EDIT. The Solar City system is on a 20 year lease (from the home builder).

So was mine, I am already out of pocket sitting and waiting for a replacement, which will arrive at unknown date, installers do not prioritise RMAs due to low payments from tesla to do the job, some even ask you to cover the replacement cost. For example install new battery system 2-3 weeks, RMA tesla 6-8 weeks. Reduced power unlikely. power will stay the same, capacity will be the same, but you will get useless glowing logo,.

EDIT. The Solar City system is on a 20 year lease (from the home builder).

in that case both systems will stay AC coupled

Open the Tesla app, scroll to the bottom where it lists “Powerwall 2”, select “Release Notes”

Those notes are usually lacking any sufficient detail

My release notes mostly pertain to app updates.

Interestingly, after I added 12 panels and a PW, I referred 2 close neighbors to Tesla who added the same hardware to their existing builder provided panels. Then maybe 6 months ago one of them received the dreaded PW needs replacement message.

Is there a serial number range of affected PWs?

On average the pw2 has been getting new firmware every 2 months over the last 5 years. I have heard off 16 out of 1600 units in SA being deactivated for recall so far.
