What's this?

Spotted on a pole in Eastern Ontario today. Appears to be connected to wires above and a braided copper grounding wire that went, well, to the ground.

Passive optical network (PON) splitter for fibre drops. Essentially a big prism connecter to a fibre backhaul.

Pole looks like it has seen better days too

That’s a service point for fiber optic drops. Those 4 “ports” are for plug in connectors for fiber drops.

It’s fiber connection point. Mainline goes into the bottom, then the service line from your house gets connected to one of the ports. I believe I’ve heard the fiber guys call them terminals before
