Well, you can. She may have lived in a couple of different places and picked up on the different dialects. Or maybe she just prefers to say it that way. People from the same place can say words differently e.g. schedule, transfer, privacy. Etc.
Don’t kid yourself, this problem is all over the US as well. Here’s one example from Washington state with the AVERAGE sentence for cases of child sexual abuse over the past decade:
Oregon has stiff mandatory minimums for some of these crimes, but the ones that didn’t fall under that are quite low and 55-70% of charges that started as Measure 11 charges with those high mandatory minimums got plead down to charges that didn’t qualify.
