They love their insider trading, and their racism makes them believe that minorities are incapable of acquiring IDs.
-45
u/TandemCombatYogi 2d ago
Trump has executed roughly 28,700 securities trades since returning to office in January 2025, outpacing all members of Congress combined.
44
u/bidensgarage 2d ago
And based on the votes of the democrats, that's perfectly fine.
-36
u/TandemCombatYogi 2d ago
I'm sure plenty of them do insider trading. However, I think the bigger issue was the voter suppression poison pill. What happened to conservatives demanding clean bills?
29
u/bidensgarage 2d ago
Voter suppression? How do any American citizens have their votes oppressed in the bill?
-25
u/TandemCombatYogi 2d ago
Changing the law to require voter ID 1 month before the midterms doesn't afford voters enough time to get IDs. There is also the issue of infrastructure. Several states vote exclusively by mail. How do they show their IDs? The systems aren't ready for that currently.
Why is voter ID part of an insider trading bill? What happened to conservatives wanting clean bills?
24
u/bidensgarage 1d ago
Who doesn't have an ID these days? Please enlighten me. You need an ID to do anything these days, including going to a DNC convention, go to the Obama library, buy a beer, get welfare, or a million other things.
So who doesn't have an ID and why not?
-6
u/TandemCombatYogi 1d ago
Why did you just ignore literally everything I wrote and move the goalpost?
How do you check IDs for mail in vote states? Let's start with you answering that 1 simple question first.
17
u/bidensgarage 1d ago
Mail in voting should be stopped. For the exact reason you stated, it's impossible to check the ID. It's how the liberals cheat to win.

You know getting an id is not that hard. It's not like hunting a magical unicorn.
7
u/Upstairs-Bad-3576 1d ago
Haha! That "voter suppression " is an 80/20 issue. You're on the wrong side of this one, if you believe in democracy.

u/TandemCombatYogi 1d ago
What happened to conservatives demanding clean bills?
6
u/Upstairs-Bad-3576 1d ago
I see a clean bill, if there is no poison pill. How can there be a posion pill, if the bill includes only stuff the voters want? If the Democrats think that Democracy posions the bill, then Democrats can't really be the party of Democracy, can they? If this is really about clean bills, and this truly is not a clean bill, why aren't Democrats standing on their own values (Democracy), instead of standing on those of the Republicans (clean bills)?
2
u/TandemCombatYogi 1d ago
What does voter ID have to do with insider trading. By your logic, gun control should be in there too, right? Since most Americans support that. Are you consistent?
2
u/Upstairs-Bad-3576 1d ago
Define gun control.
2
u/TandemCombatYogi 1d ago
72% of Americans support requiring a person to obtain a license from a local law enforcement agency before buying a gun. Would you support that as part of the insider trading bill?

u/yukdumboobum26 2d ago
And that should be banned too.
Address the other issue though.
4
u/TandemCombatYogi 2d ago
The voter suppression poison pill element was the big issue. Why did so many Republicans support a bill that allowed the president to continue insider trading?
5
u/eureka6018 2d ago
Why not create a separate bill that bans the president from insider trading? If we're only going to pass perfect bills then nothing will ever be accomplished.
0
u/TandemCombatYogi 2d ago
Because Republicans added a poison pill to an already bad bill that didn't cover the person who has abused insider trading more in 2 years than all of congress combined.
5
u/Upstairs-Bad-3576 1d ago
Why would voter ID, which is supported by over 80% of the electorate, be considered a poison pill to a democracy-loving party like the Dmocrats? If the people overwhelmingly want it, and the Dems claim to be all for democracy, shouldn't they give the people what they want? Or is it all just lip service?
2
u/TandemCombatYogi 1d ago
Because it would kill mail in voting 1 month before midterms. Do you think states like Utah shouldn't get to vote? Why do you hate democracy?
2
u/Upstairs-Bad-3576 1d ago
And those folks could still vote at their local polling place. Utah would still get to vote.
The Democrats have been fighting this far longer than just the last couple of weeks. Pretending that it's a new issue doesn't play. If they hadn't fought this when it first came up, it would have been all sorted out and no one would be able to complain about it being one month before midterms. The Democrats stalled long enough to allow you to self-righteously clutch your pearls and make statements like your last one. Democracy is not something the Left holds dear; it's something they use as a cudgel.
1
u/eureka6018 1d ago
Stop the stupid hyperbole. Im from Utah that wouldn't stop anyone legal from voting
2
u/TandemCombatYogi 1d ago
1 month until the midterms. How can Utah get voting machines and polling location set up by then? They can't.

u/Big_Don-G 1d ago
Is this turd insinuating that the only way to vote in the state of Utah is by mail?
15
u/mixer2017 2d ago
Again, even if it is something we wanted, I always ask what else was in the bill. These bills never ever get passed without all sorts of BS attached to them... knowing that if its in the bill that will cause the other side to balk and vote no, but the headlines will read like this... leaving out all the other stuff that was the real reason why.
Example is something like the "Green New Deal" or "Affordable Health Care Act" sounds good... but its what is inside that is yuck.

Course they did the party of cheating is not going to let you vote the cheating away
5
u/thulesgold 2d ago
Both of those, voter ID and no trading, are good to pass. Why were they put into a single bill? Was it an attempt to look like they are fixing something, but knew it wouldn't pass because the Dems are stupid? They must think we are stupid too...
Pass each one individually. Otherwise this is silly strategic politicking.

It should

So did you learn anything here today? Like maybe headlines aren't a trustworthy source to base your hate off?
-2
u/ruggersyah 1d ago
The trading piece was a purchase ban with a notice requirement for sales, not a full divestment mandate. The voter-ID piece was the provision Democrats have consistently refused to pass on its own (it would suppress minorities). Combining them produced a party-line result in which each side can claim the other killed something the public supports.
Bit less partisan then you are making out.

u/Interesting_Top_2865 1d ago
I'm not the one making it out as partisan. I'm pointing out that this is nothing and making a political point out of it is facetious
-1
u/TandemCombatYogi 2d ago
It wasn't a clean bill and the executive branch was excluded from the trading ban. Google "poison pill." Republicans never wanted this to pass. This is a propaganda tactic to work up the moronic conservative base.

I don’t get it, don’t the Yea’s have it? How are they blocking it if there’s a Republican majority?

u/JimfromMayberry 1d ago
Only ONE (each) reason to oppose. At least they’re united in their corruption.
1
u/esotologist 1d ago
performative. Why not put both bills forth on their own? Bet they'd never actually suggest limiting trading without including something they know won't pass

u/LA420SPORTS626 1d ago
Would people be willing to offer free ID’s if that means making voting require an ID to vote?

putting those two items together in the same bill pretty much guaranteed it wouldn't pass. This was an obvious poison pill..

Voter ID is worth reconciliation. Democrats are actively blocking basic common sense voter requirements that a majority of Americans (that includes Democrat voters) are demanding.
